If there was supposted magic that caused Buffy's and angels relationship then it could artifical at best. If Giles Knows this it would explain why he has tried to keep Buffy from Angel as long as he has. I think he is a character that has always thought of her best interest. Also I think characters are allowed to have secrets, it should not be a reason to doubt a character. Espcially Giles, he might have kept it secret from her in order to protect her, he always kept secrets to protect Buffy this not new. I don't doubt his character and never have. I don't think if the relatioship was artifical at all would ruin the story, it would just prove that Buffy never really belonged with, she is not destined to be with him. It always seemed to me Giles knew she always deserved better than him, and if he kept a secret their has to a good reason. I doubt Giles would ever help Angel if he meant to hurt Buffy, its not in his character. If anything it fits Buffy's character to help him, and betray everyone else, this happened when it was tv. Kissing him is a betrayal but I don't think its Buffy's fault, but eventually she will no doubt face consequences of this deciscion. The scobbies have a great bond that Angel can't compete with at the end of the day. Giles is one the original scobbies he would never help Angel period. If there is a mole it is most likely at this point not one of the original scobbies, that leaves the characters Dawn, Andrew, Satsu, and Faith. These characters would have a motive to help Angel, and I'm sorry to say Dawn would but she would gain a lot with Buffy betraying her friends, although I'm not going to jump to any conclusions jsut yet. It just seems a very odd cocidence that at the same time Buffy starts having real feelings for Xander, he says he's in love with Dawn. I think everyone has been waiting for Buffy to have feelings for Xander since episode 1, and the only type of relationship that would really amount for Xander and Dawn would be one of big brother/little sister, or surgogate father/ daughter, but not romance. He was also showing signs of hesitations of the relationship, I just can't see him that romantically interested in Dawn, let alone love like he claimed. The fact he kept it secret for so long is also something that sticks out, from his history his secret affairs have eventually ended in failure, espcially when he was secretly seeing Willow back in high school. Dawn is one of the characters that does have a motive to be a mole, simply she has so much to gain. Since Angel is a doublecrossing character as well as manipulative he could easily persuade to help him, believing that he wouldn't hurt Xander. The dreamscape also mentions Dawn so she should have some role in the final battle.
