THE BIG THREE: The murder of Uncle Ben was notable as one of the few comic book deaths that was not later reversed, giving way to the phrase "No one in comics stays dead except for Bucky, Jason Todd, and Uncle Ben." Later, the revivals of both Bucky and Jason in 2005 led to the amendment, "No one in comics stays dead except Uncle Ben."

The above is part of the reason that I believe with great certainty that come Season 11 or 12, Giles will be back. Even DC & Marvel which have dozen (maybe hundreds?) of heroes in their respective 'verses, NONE stay dead. And they Buffyverse is far smaller than them!

Now, there will be exceptions, as the Buffyverse was founded with real people, so given tragic deaths such as Glenn Quinn & Andy Hallett in real life. But even of there, Lorne will live on, and given enough time, I'd imagine if the Buffyverse becomes indefinite like Marvel & DC, we'll even see Doyle again.

Cordy & Wes are no-brainers, since neither are dead-dead, and both have already made appearances after their demise.

With Giles, he's one of the biggest characters in the 'verse, far more integral than Anya or Tara to the Buffyverse mythos, and I expect all three to at least make appearances soon, with big arcs within the next 3-5 years.

Reactions?

He needs to stay dead. And, so does Doyle. And Tara. And, everyone else who died because then what's the point of them dying in the first place?

I agree, it diminishes the impact if they don't stay dead

I agree about Giles. I hate him. Glad he is dead. BUT TARA!!!! Saying that Tara should stay dead is Blasphimy! She needs to be brouth back this season. And Kennedy needs to die and stay dead!! BRING BACK TARA!!!!!!!!
Maybe Giles will come back as the Red Hooded Winter Solider...and yeah, let me waive my flag of sheer utter geekdom now...

We could say the same about Angel, Faith, Buffy, Spike...did I leave someone out?

Faith never actually died. She was just put in a coma

Umm, when did Faith die?

& I really don't think Buffy or Spike should've been brought back either, even though I do enjoy the later seasons of BtVS and I absolutely adore Spike in S5 of ANGEL. Like with Doyle and the other people I mentioned, it kind of leaves their deaths a bit meaningless.

But as for Angel himself, he didn't technically die. He just went to a hell dimension 😛

I posted in the other thread what I thought about Giles dying i.e. that he really needs to stay dead.

But honestly:

😱

Oh please God no. Can Season 9 be the end? Really? So ready for this verse to be over.

Since Giles' death, contrary to Buffy's and Spike's, wasn't about self-sacrifice or the like, a revival somewhere down the line wouldn't make his death any less meaningful.

With Faith and Angel it was set up ambiguously so they could always be brought back.
