Gilmore Girls - Rebecca Rand Kirshner

I got fed up with this one, and stopped watching it. I checked up on it recently though, and it appears to be getting good again. Loved Lorelai singing the cheesy karaoke song last ep.

But now I hear some rumour it's being cancelled, or something. What's happening with this show. Can someone catch me up? When did it start getting good again?

I'd almost given up on Rebecca Kirshner (Tabula Rasa). Didn't she take over as show runner from the Palladinos, or something?

Apparently Alexis didn't want to renew her contract. Then there was talk on the show going on with a focus more on a "Lorelai and Luke" kinda thing (With an occasional appearance by Rory). Then Lauren Graham said that if Alexis wasn't going to come back, then she wouldn't either. So I think it hasn't been decided yet.

I've always really liked the show, but I guess I really didnt like the whole Lorelai/Chris togetherness part of it. And also its not the same with Rory all grown up...and i miss the Emily/Lorelai funny scenes. Haven't seen any in a while.

After weeks of talks aimed at bringing the show back for a limited run next season, the CW and Warner Bros. TV have decided to wrap production on the quirky dramedy that focused on fast-talking femmes. [The series], now in its seventh season, will air its final episode May 15. [...] CW and WBTV released a joint statement noting the passing Thursday morning. "Announcing the final season of Gilmore Girls is truly a sad moment for everyone at The CW and Warner Bros. Television," statement read. "This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television's most memorable, lovable characters."

That's OK though, in a way.

Now they can end it properly, before they do something stupid like bring back Christopher, or kill off Paul Anka, or some dumb thing like that. There'd better be a big Luke and Lorelai wedding, or at least an elopement.

I'm glad they're finally canceling this...not that I have anything against the show but The CW seriously needs to clean up its schedule. Maybe they'll renew VM and put "Gossip Girl" (which is a sure thing to be picked up) as its lead-in. VM needs a decent lead in. And GG was just not compatible.

I used to love this show, and even though this last season is ok and sometimes pretty great.. I think it's kinda good that it's cancelled. I don't think they have that much more to tell.. But I wish they do something special with the ending of this season, 'cause I feel like nothing has really happened for quite a long time now..

I liked the series finale last night. Here's a blurb from an episode recap. The writer pretty much catches it, if you read the whole thing.

Cheers for the graceful wrap-up of the endlessly frustrating Luke and Lorelai story. When Lorelai hears that it wasn't Sookie who planned the whole affair, that it was Luke who stayed up all night sewing a patchwork tent of raincoats, well, what's a girl to do but march across that same street that knocked them on their asses so many times and smooch the guy. I bet many fans will feel cheated that they got but a second of that long-awaited kiss before the camera panned off to focus on the town square. I loved it. I loved that we got to see them reconcile without a lot of words, and that whatever romance they cook up is now their business alone. I don't want to see him giving her a necklace and promising to make babies that very night. I want her wearing the necklace and him rightfully in the background the next morning while she says goodbye to her daughter.

So the series ended where it began, in Luke's diner, with Rory and Lorelai making love to their coffee and ordering an obscene amount of food. When they leave us, they're jabbering away at each other, protected from the world by their enormous, enthusiastic, almost childlike appreciation of their best friend before them. See you later, girls.

And goodbye to you, Mrs. Kim, wherever you are!
