Giving Ships A Second Chance

We all have our favorite ships and our least favorite ships. Ships we love and ships we hate. Everyone loves to talk about why they love their ship and why they hate the ships they do.

However, this thread is where you can try to list positive things about a ship you don't like. Scenes between the couple that you like. It can also be things you can see why people like it even if you dont.

No ship bashing please.

I'll start off with listing good things about Bangel 🙂

- When he gives her the Claddagh ring in Surprise. It was a sweet moment between them and I love the Claddagh ring and the meaning behind it. Its a touching moment.
- The scene at the end of The Prom when Angel appears and they share the dance. I always liked that he came for her, even if he was still leaving, and even if he thought Prom was stupid. He came for her, because Prom was important to her, and this way she gets her perfect Prom. Its one perfect Highschool memory that Buffy will always have.
- When Angel comes to support Buffy after her mother's death. I like how he just comes and stands next to her and holds her hand. She needed someone, Riley had just left, and she had nobody intimate to support her. So it was nice to have Angel come and show that he still cares.
- Buffy and Angel will always love each other even if they grow to love others as well, they will always be each others first love. They can grow and love other people, have other relationships and fall in love again. But they always care about eachother. And no matter what Angel will always be Buffy's First Love.

Okay, one ship that I can't stand is Funn (Frunn?), but some things that I do appreciate about it:

It bought Fred out of her shell, and opened her up a lot.
It made both of them super happy.
It was kinda cute that they ate breakfast together every morning no matter what was happening around them.

Since you covered Bangel, I guess I'll list some positives about Buffy and Riley. Lord, give me strength 😀

1.) Riley was Buffy's first normal boyfriend. Well, not really. He worked for the government hunting down vampires, demons, and such. So, I guess he wasn't really "normal." (Darn, this is hard.)
2.) Buffy was able to open up to Riley and allow herself to be in a steady relationship with him.
3.) Riley coming back in s6 helped Buffy to re-examine her life and start to take some responsibility for herself and others.

Not a big Cangel fan... but You're Welcome was really nice. I loved the kiss at the end.

I also hate Riley, and Ruffy kind of irritates me A LOT... but when Xander gives that speech to Buffy and she decides she can really love him at the end of Into The Woods I always feel for her... and I generally cry when she doesn't get there in time.

Haha, and no mention what so ever of the fact that Buffy got some seriously good loving while she was with Riley? Oh, and without Riley in her life she never would have been able to get the inside information she needed to take down Adam and the Initiative.

Briley is my most hated 'ship. I'd rather watch a Connor/Cordelia marathon! LOL 😛 I would say Cangel, but they were never actually a couple and it's sort of cheating anyway since I love their friendship so much, lol.

So something nice about Briley:

The beach scene in BvD is cute.

lol, that's the best I can do. This did make me realize just how much I hate this ship, though :lmao:

- The last scene in Fool For Love is so touching. Also, that cute scene in Touched.

Bangel:
- I Will Remember You.
- Their last dance in The Prom.

Killow:
- Kennedy is kinda super protective of Willow and I think that's cute.

Fobin:
- Robin opened Faith's eyes a little that she won't be a "get some, get gone" girl forever.

I may be the only one here to hold this opinion, but I believe that ships are one shot things. They have their time, they end, and the people in question hopefully move on to something new. Does that mean that those two people won't ever get together again at some future date? Absolutely not! But when they do get back together, they will be two totally different people, the products of each and every experience that they have had since their relationship ended. Those two new people may indeed meet and fall in love, but it will be a totally different relationship, shared by two essentially different people, people who, hopefully, have grown and matured enough to get around and past whatever it was that ended their first relationship. Call them Bangel 1 and Bangel 2, Spuffy 1 and Spuffy 2, Cangel 1 and Cangel 2, or however makes it easiest to differentiate between the two, but the fact remains that every time a couple "starts over again," what they are starting is totally new, not an attempt to rekindle something that ended years before.

Willow and Kennedy-she consoled Willow and also she apparently had some pretty steamy sex with Willow....actually i think that's the only real thing i like about that ship...

does that make me pervy??? lol

Cangel: Uhm..positive things..uhm..ok I got one..I admit she makes him smile (*drops exhausted from effort*)

Spuffy: I don't hate Spuffy moments with a fiery vengeance. Some of their moments are enjoyable but I'd rather ignore season 6 encounters for valid reasons. Anyway..positive things..when she rescues him in Intervention and in season 7...and a little bit of the Touched scene (I can't stare too hard at it though...I'll have allergic reactions.. 😀 )

Buffy/Riley: I like that their relationship shows how Buffy never opened her heart completely after Becoming Pt.2 (does that count??), I like Into The Woods, I like when he comes back in season 6, beach scene at the beginning of season 5 and when Angel kicks hiss ass in The Yoko Factor (now I'm positive this doesn't count).

Willow/Kennedy: this is too hard...what's good there? Oh yes, Willow seems happy. (this was almost as hard as Cangel)

i disagree. I don't think she was ever really happy with Kennedy. she always seemed distant from her because she will always have Tara on her mind. The only "happy time" was when they had that hot steamy sexy time lmao

Well, that surely made her happy:tongue3:. I think Willow's smart enough not to be in a relationship if this person doesn't make her happy. Now..of course she could never be as happy as she was with Tara and will always be a little distant and will NEVER love Kennedy how and as much as she loved Tara but I think in the long run the only positive thing is that Willow at least a little happy with Kennedy (if not, then why be with her in the first place?). Anyway..this ship is really bad..I'm all for Tillow and Woz!

Bangel is my least favorite ship. So good Bangel moments...

• The episode when it snowed and Angel couldn't kill himself.
• The episode when Angelus and Buffy got possessed by the teen ghost & the ghost of the teacher
• I can't think of any more.

I'm doing a rewatch of both Buffy & angel, so trying to be open-minded here. I'm on season 4/season 1, and the only 'ship I've disliked so far is Cordy & Xander. So, some good things...

Lots of funny moments, mostly jabs between the two of them.
Cordy grew during the relationship- she stood up to her friends, and did what she wanted to do rather than what was popular.
Xander got a hot girlfriend LOL.

Okay, I'll do Cangel, (Bare with me, I don't really like this 'ship but I'll do the best I can):
-She made him smile
-She comforted him during his darkest time after losing his son
-She gives him a lot of emotional support through out the series
-They have a very good friendship which is a good base for a strong relationship
-She kinda acts like a mom to baby Connor

Now that I think about it there are a decent amount of positives for Cangel that I really never thought of

Ok first post ever woooo!! well since i don't really have many couples i actually hate or strongly dislike in BTVS I'll go for the only one that came to mind. Willow/Kennedy. Ok *takes a deep breath* lets begin 😉

1.I kind of like the way Kennedy gets her to talk about Tara and her sexuality. That entire scene at The Bronze while too 'flirty/forward' from Kennedy's side IMO, was still kind of cute.

2. I like how even though it was their first 'date' Kennedy really seemed to care about Willow and didn't leave her alone even when she was being pointed at with a gun.

3. "You'll be a kite and I'll be your kite string" that was kind of a cute quote 🙂

4.Finally, while she will never replace Tara , Willow at least isn't lonely and has someone to keep her company and who at least shows to care. "I don't care about the magic part it all seems fairy tale crap to me, but it matters to you" <------


Sorry if some of the quotes were wrong XD i was just remembering 😛 didn't re-watch the epis or anything ....... lol

OK this is probably the most hated ship ever on a general concensus so I figured nobody would be able to come up with something good for them unless they actually liked the couple.

Connor truly loved Cordelia.
