Glee 4

purpledreams agrees: Blaine is too good for Kurt, imo. I wish he wasn't gay, I could see him with a number of the girls on the show.

I don't mind him being gay, but I do think ultimately he is going to leave Kurt. I think he's way more mature than Kurt is and has a more open mind to things than Kurt. I love them together, but only if the writers use this as a way to make Kurt less of a stereotype. If Kurt grows and matures with the relationship, the way relationships naturally do to people, then it will be a beautiful thing. But if they use it only as a way to say "Hey we have a gay couple on our show!" then it's just pointless.

Oh gosh, I've missed Glee so much so today I figured I had to get back into it again now when I have the time...

I'm sad to say it feels like it was a big mistake. 🙁 I just watched that "Grilled cheesus" episode or whatever they called it and I just feel so... ugh. Sanctimonious and just... I'm at a loss for words right now. I feel kind of disheartened now because I really love this show but I'm not sure I can stomach to watch it again. :S

Season 2 has been rough for me to keep watching, too. I have definitely lost a lot of the love I had for the show.

Watch Duet and skip to Silly Love Song and the rest, lol. I wish I did that. ^_^
I've found myself loving Kurt more and more this season, whereas I couldn't stand him in Season 1. He's a bit of a stereotype but his problems do show a more vulnerable side of him which to me explains the bitchy and flamboyant exterior.

Blaine is lovely, I prefer him away from the Warblers though as he's not as arrogant when he's not with them. Not that I think he's arrogant but the fact that the rest of them are basically standing props compared to him, if you get what I mean.

I super seriously agree with you about loving Kurt more and more this season. I don't know, there's just something about him that I can't put my finger on, but I really like it. Maybe it has to do with the actor or whatever, but I really feel like this bullying storyline they were doing with him has been kind of good in a sense. And I agree that his problems shows a more vulnerable side to him, which is why I think I love him so much. He is just who he is and he makes no apologies for it. Maybe he wasn't listening to Blaine or his dad, but he was still doing his own thing and he was being true to himself. It took a lot of guts for him to do what he did at the end of the episode and I find it really harsh and frustrating when people rag on him for that.

Yes what he did at the end took a lot. Especially to pull it off with a smile.
I've continued watching, though in a bit of a jumble sadly missing several eps, but I have to say that I really loved the "Born this way" episode (Quinn's plot was kind of stupid, like they couldn't find a single flaw within Diana Agron so they had to pretend that once she was ugly? Please, I would've been more impressed if Quinn would've gotten an actual flaw)

Have to say though, I don't like Quinn, at all, in fact I really wish her character would go away or evolve into something more likeable (giving up hope on that) but Diana Agron is rather interesting is she? Not just looks-wise (yes, she's lovely). When I was watching Born this way I was thinking that I wouldn't be completely averse to the idea of her as Buffy in the new Buffy movie 🙂 I think she could handle a bit more tough girl attitude rahter than being the pretty princess.

I've been thinking the same thing re her as Buffy

It's Dianna. :D And I thought about that about Lucy too and sadly yeah, Quinn character got screwed. :(
More when I get home... but I wanna get the neg rep out of the way. I hate Kurt. I despise Kurt. This episode made me want to SLAP kurt SO hard across the face. Kurt is the worst. I'm serious... Kurt is NOT what gay people should be looking up to. He's like Lady Gaga... the ANIT- good role model.

Blaine, however, is where it's at.

What? Kurt is amazing. I think he's excatly what people should be looking up to. He's brave, he encourages people to be who they are! Just like lady gaga, who I LOVE.

Note. The following is not towards you zoà«, it's a general rant.

I understand this whole thought of him being a stereotype, but in the same time, a lot of people ARE like that too. I have a problem with people saying that people like him are ruining for "the normal gays". There's no such thing as the normal way of being gay! Everyone's is different and Kurt's way of acting is no less accurate than a gay man acting traditional manly! I don't understand why it's so threatning when boys act like girls and girls like boys, sex is just a cobstruction anyway, so why not play with it?

Now if you excuse me, I'm going to go and spray on some male perfume. Bye! 😀

Blaine (and Darren Criss) is awesome!!! I heart him so much. 😀

I love Kurt, too, but I agree with what Britt said about Blaine being a better role model. Kurt is rather stereotypical (not that there's anything wrong with that) and a little bit of a drama queen. That said, I still love Chris Colfer. He's adorable. 🙂

I haven't actually seen the prom ep yet, but I've looked it up. The next one to air here is Rumours.

Oh, and I love Kurt's version of As If We Never Said Goodbye from the Born This Way episode.

So who are everyone's favourite characters?

Mine are Blaine 😀, Rachel and Kurt, followed by Brittany and Mike. I used to hate Rachel but now I really like her. Brittany's adorable. Mike's cool and an awesome dancer. Also, I really liked Jesse when he wasn't a jerk.

Special mention goes to Artie 'cause imo Kevin McHale has one of the best male voices on the show.

I can't stop listening to As If We Never Said Goodbye, it gives me goosebumps. 😀

My favourite characters are Rachel as I can relate to her rather a lot and Jesse as he's evil but has a brilliant voice. I don't mind Finn either but his character has been ruined for me this season by him becoming so hypocritical. Mike is really sweet but lacks substance for me (same reason I've only started liking Brittany now she's more than just comic relief).

My favorite character is Santana. 😀 Brittany used to be my fav, though. Now my love for her is getting back again.

What else do you think was on Sue's list of songs that should never be reprised?

Good question. But I can't think of one. 😀

And someone gives Naya all the awards. She's too awesome. Actually she already gave herself some. 😀

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEu8Jz4QxTE"]YouTube - Naya Rivera Hosts the 22nd GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco[/ame]

I wanna marry her.

You can tell she's nervous, but she managed it. And I guess she prepared the script herself. Everything sounded like something she would say. Also, I love her hand gestures. 😀

I feel bad for Santana being at a school where she can't openly be a lesbian (just like Kurt can't openly be gay for fear of ridicule or death threats), but I don't approve of her use of deception to get what she wants. She's also too possessive of Brittany, to the point that Artie broke up with Brittany because of it. These bad qualities make her interesting and somewhat sympathetic as a character, but I hope she matures.

As for this season, I'm as disappointed as a lot of people. The Quinn-Finn-Rachel love triangle is getting to be a bit annoying, especially because the three seem pretty immature about it most of the time (wanting to leave school because of death threats is one thing, leaving because of self-imposed insecurities is something else). The only really good episodes were the religion-themed one, the Super Bowl episode, Sectionals and Regionals. The rest of the season has had its moments, but overall I haven't been too thrilled with this season. It's good, but not nearly as good as the first, nor as focused. Although, Kurt's story-arc (and it's a major one) hasn't been too bad, and his acceptance of the prom queen crown was rather moving. And it's nice to see Emma finally acknowledge and attempt to manage her OCD. Other highlights for me:

* The Puck-Lauren relationship is amusing
* Mercedes continues to the one of the only truly sympathetic characters, and her prom moment was nice
* Sam's relationship with his siblings is genuinely affecting

Glee is the new Will & Grace. While it apparently takes pride in putting gay characters and issues on the forefront and advancing acceptance of gays, it actually reinforces stereotypes and treats homosexuality as joke fodder, brushing any attempt at a serious issue with a punchline (or, in its case, a musical number).

Yes, yes, yes, yes, YES! I agree with Cait, I think Blaine is a good example for gay kids... but yes. I agree.
^^^That's why I hate Kurt so much. I despise him. He's one of my most hated TV characters. I think I might even hate him as much as Lauren on Make it or Break it. Because the writers say they're being good and doing a service to the gay community... and even gay people eat it up like it's the best thing ever. But really, it's one of the worst things being done to us right now. Just re-enforcing stereotypes and making kids believe that if they do come out, it's going to be hell. The reality of coming out is so different. If you sourround yourself with the right people, no one cares. And those that do care don't care enough to make your life hell. They might crack a few jokes, but that's it. I was too lazy to elaborate on my thoughts on Kurt last week.. .but here we go: If you are a gay man, and you follow the stereotype that gay men are essentially women in every way, shape, and form... people are going to treat you like that stereotype is true. And you have NO ONE to blame but yourself. If he wants to be an eccentric and draw attention to himself (like he told his father and Blaine he wanted to do), then he needs to learn how to play the game. I played it for many years... If you want to draw attention to the parts of you that are different, when people notice because you're breaking huge social norms, you relish in the attention. You look at it as a trophy when someone points it out. When a big giant group of people point it out, you just won a grammy or an oscar. You jump up there and say "you guys ROCK beyond belief. Why? Because you noticed the part of me I was trying to draw attention to, and you reacted like the sheep you are." Except, without being mean. He wanted to have his cake and eat it too in last week's episode. SO many gay people feel this way... I know because I've talked to them. But it's not progressive. Over the course of the show, Kurt has done EVERYTHING gay people do that they shouldn't. (Well, except go to a pride parade wearing virtually nothing. But I have faith we'll see that next season.) Bottom line: Kurt sucks.

Then there's Santana. Come on... it's kinda common knowledge lesbians are more socially accepted... I mean, don't get me wrong. Coming out is a personal and intimate process for lesbians too.. But a woman who looks as good as her (who knows it like she does) should not and would not realistically speaking be as worried as she is. She'll of course get the creeps with thier "can I watch" crap... but we all get that. Keeping her in the closet is telling gay kids "It's ok to be weak." I'm sorry, but it's not. We NEED strong role models. I know that some people think because lesbians are more socially accepted we (lesbians) don't need strong role models to look up to, but I wouldn't have come out without Ellen. We DO need strong role models and if the writers of Glee really want to do as much good as they can, they'll make Santana a strong lesbian role model. Proving you can be a lesbian without being butch, or showing off for the guys. You can actually just be a beautiful woman who is a lesbian.

And of course what's his face, I haven't even taken the time to learn his name. This storyline upsets me more than I can explain. Just make the guy come out. Once again, if they REALLY want to tear down walls and boundaries and do something good for the gay community, they will show that you don't have to be effeminate to be a gay guy. They'll give a butch guy a chance to be a strong gay role model. There are so many guys suffering from feeling like their sports team wouldn't respect them, or this or that because they're not flamingly obvious... it's up to the media right now to prove that it doesn't have to happen that way and give strength to those kids who feel this way. THAT is what this show should be doing. Instead, it's giving kids MORE reasons to stay in the closet. I just want to PUNCH each and ever writer in the face.

Oh and let's not forget Brittany. Why is she still saying she "thinks she might be bi-currious"? Either make her bi, or have her tell Santana she's not interested. But don't keep this "I think I might be bi-currious" crap! The grey area sexualites NEED a role model. I mean, some people within the LGBT community don't believe in bisexuality. If they really wanted to do good, THEY'D DO IT! I just HATE that people eat this show up for being boundary pushing and going a great service to the LGBT community, when it doesn't do squat. And the worst part (to me at least) is that I think the writers think they're doing a good job. It's almost like the white upper-middle class people who happily pay taxes towards welfare and think it's a good system that's doing more good than harm. And they'll never challenge or change it, even though they might if they actually knew what they were talking about, because they simply don't think about it.

Anyway, so that's my rant on that... I came to this thread, however, to post about this week. Sue was amazing. I really don't like Sue. Well, I didn't like Sue. This week changed everything. I was crying most of this episode because it was just beautiful.

Finn dumping Quinn was long overdue, although when and where he did it was kinda... harsh. I hope to GOD he fights for Rachel. She loves him, and he deserves her. She deserves him. They deserve to be together and happy because they both work so hard.

Yup, that's my opinion...

Nice episode.

I loved seeing Sue emotional. That was a nice speach she wrote there, it really moved me. I like her being more than the mean coach, but I'm sorry it had to get down to that too see more of her.

Jesse was such a jerk. Reminded me of WHY I DON'T LIKE HIM in the first place. All of those songs were amazing. I love all of their voices.

Awwww, how sweet it was from Finn to come with a flower 😀

Quinn still trying to ignore the fact Finn doesn't want to be with her. AAAARGH, what are they doing to her character???? Also, I wonder what her plans for NYC are.

I'm so mad that they made Jesse and Quinn arseholes. They were sweet characters. Jesse was nice post-Funk. Quinn was nice post-Super Bowl. I think Quinn character also died(got assassinated) in Funeral. I need to calm down before I post my thoughts. 🙁 😡

RIP Quinn.

aw bb don't lose hope on Quinn yet! I'll give you an unnecessarily long explanation in a PM. ;)

Well about the stereotypes Kurt isn't the first and he won't be the last. A lot of shows do this and a lot of gay males act this way I have so many gay friends and they act more flamboyant than Kurt. I love Kurt and he is the least of my worries with the show but I can understand why some people wouldn't like him.

I personally only think I have seen one gay storyline done very well on TV and that is Jack McPhee from Dawson's Creek. He is the only storyline that I think didn't stereotype and such. TV shows these days always do the gay males like Kurt it seems.

I loved this episode except I was ticked I would have rather had a
major character die than Sue's sister.

I LOVE Becky I actually love the minor characters more or the ones that don't get as much of a storyline. They are what is making me come back each week.

I can say I really do love Santana though and think she and Mercedes are wonderful singers. One of those two should easily get the lead. I mean Mercedes sang that song so great to put it simple. I personally don't think anyone can do that song justice besides for the original singer, Duckie and his dance movies from Pretty in Pink and Michael Grimm but she made me love her version.

I think Jesse is a jerk but I love him and it is because he ADMITS he is a jerk and he owns it. Finn to me is so stupid because he is a jerk but calls Jesse out? He is just as bad I mean he only seems to be
interested in Rachel because Jesse is back. I honestly don't believe he loves her and he wants her because someone else does. It is sad really.

I don't get what they are doing with Quinn it is ridiculous. It is a shame because Diana is so lovely and I just love her. I personally think Quinn is way above Finn anyways.
I love Diana's new hair!!

This episode was so good and I loved all the Sue scenes. I was actually emotional during it.

I copied this from another forums I posted.

Saddest episode ever. :'( But is it me or episode 21 of any series always isn't good? In season 1, I didn't like Funk either. Funeral is not my fav, but of course I cried for Jeanie and Sue. Sue's the sweetest around her sister.

I don't think Jesse was biased. Rachel was really the best as usual. But I agreed with Mr. Shue. They should all sing together. That's the best thing about ND. I yelled "Go Mr. Shue!" when he said "I've changed my mind." with that "I'm the boss here." face. 😀

Warning: Finn bashing is on the way. Sorry if I hurt your feelings, Finn's fans.

I don't hate Jesse. I think they made him meaner to make Finn look better. Just like what they did to him in Funk so Finchel can get together in Journey. I miss good ole Jesse from Dream On. He's really genuine and cares about Rachel. He still cares about her now, though.

Same goes for Quinn. What's with the prom thing?? I think Ryan should have a talk with Brad and Ian about how to write Quinn(Brad wrote Born This Way. Ian wrote Prom Queen). I don't like that they used her as a plot device. She's not human anymore. Kudos to Dianna for humanizing her. So yeah, they made her a mega bitca so Finn can dump her. But he's the one that came back to her in the first place. He always realized things when it's too late. I can write an essay about my dislike for Finn, but I rather keep it to myself. I'm so mad in the level that I'm shipping Faberry harder and started shipping St. Fabray and St. Berry(I think). Can't wait to see what Quinn will do. Anyway, the only time I like Finn is when he hangs out with Kurt. I don't know. Maybe I read this too much. http://hypocriticalfinn.tumblr.com/

The songs: Back to Black was great. Santana is my fav. So no surprise. Good to see more Bradtana moments. I bet they secretly have built a friendship. 😀

tumblr_lldfi5cYNE1qejlg8o1_r1_500.gif

Kurt's voice was so fit to the song. I think this song is one of his bests. If you noticed, it's the same rhythms as "Rose's Turn" but less aggressive. 🙂 I didn't like Mercedes' song at all. It's like she yelled the whole song. She's the best when she sings R&B or pop. Rachel killed it, of course. And thanks God, I saw Finn only 4-5 seconds on my screen while she's singing "My Man". I was expecting more.

Terri and Bamboo were awesome. Good to see old characters back. I laughed so hard at "1234" as the password. 😀 And I felt sorry for Terri. She obviously still loves Will, but I'm glad they've said goodbye and be nice to each other. Wemma was nice too, but I still want Carlma's closure. Will's following his dream. I wanna see Glee Clubbers' reactions. Anyway, I can't wait to see him sing "Still Got Tonight" in New York. It's his best song so far, IMO. 🙂

Sue and Jean: I started crying since the moment Sue couldn't continue reading her speech through the end of Pure Imagination. The Jean video killed me. :'(

I love Becky so much. She just want to have a place she belongs to and Sue gave her a chance. Their hug was so touching.

So weird when Puck, Mike and Sam didn't have a line, not even singing.

The end was so cool. Quinn's "You'll see." was so fierce. And love how the kids, who auditioned, complimented each other, especially Rachel/Santana. For once that Santana didn't insult Rachel. 🙂

Really sad episode 🙁. I still love Quinn, mainly because I want to see what she has planned 😀. Santanas song was AMAZING, the others were good, but I wont have them on constant repeat.

I still hate Jesse with all my heart, and even though I dont like Finn that much, he is HUNDRED times better than Jesse. Also, come on he is a sweetheart, with what he did for Sue.
