I am pretty sure Jasmine was an Old One! She talks about being there before the time of men, much like Giles talks about in the first episode of Buffy! Illyria was a Demon King. And Gloria a Hell God, from another dimension!

Jasmine actually claimed that she used to be a Power that Is (Powers That Be), but she disagreed with the Powers not taking an active role in fighting evil, so she "fell" and Power that Was.

If thats the case im glad things worked out as they did. I cant imagine Doyle or Cordy being able to pull off playing the big bad. I thought Jasmine was a really good big bad.
What was Jasmine anyway, a god?

i thought cordy played being evil really well. she freaked me out--especially that scene when willow comes in to see how she is and stuff and she has the knife under the covers. she did evil convincingly.
