Glory: Fan Favorite?

Not including AtS... Glory is one of my favourites, after Angelus and The Mayor.

I've always thought she was a fan favorite, but suprisingly, I've found a good number of people who think she was the worst villian, and that season 5 was absolute dreck. Which of course, I can't possibly fathom. Even then I'll admit, rewatching the season does kinda put a dent on how I first perceived Glory. At first, I thought she was this brilliant foe who finally gave Buffy a run for her money, but now I find her rather annoying at times. Some of her acting kind of makes me cringe due to over-exaggeration, and the minions really go overboard with the sentiments (Oh, your creamy coolness, your scrumptiousness. We bathe in your splendiforous radiance, etc, etc) but I still find her effective, in the grand scheme of things. My favorites villians will always be the Scoobies themselves. They ARE their worst enemies.

I also felt Glory's motivation was very underwhelming...she just wanted to go home lol. It's different from the generic "I want to conquer the world", but it still made me giggle a little when they first figured it out

Glory.. not a favorite of mine. Sorry to break the trend 😉 I can see why she's liked but I mainly found her ditzy and annoying.

I absolutely love Glory - she is my favourite big bad! I think Clare plays her perfectly - she is mental, hilarious and so great to watch! For me I think her motive as an exiled god was actually quite refreshing in that all she wanted was to get home! The whole storyline of her trying to find the key and Buffy protecting Dawn is thrilling - following a dull storyline involving Adam the season before! I also love her commentary on the world she sees around her in Weight of The World:

Glory: "Funny, 'cause I look around at this world you're so eager to be a part of, and all I see's six billion lunatics looking for the fastest ride out. Who's not crazy? Look around... everyone's drinkin', smokin', shootin' up, shootin' each other or just plain screwing their brains out because they don't want 'em anymore. I'm crazy? Honey, I am the original one-eyed chicklet in the kingdom of the blind 'cause at least I admit the world makes me nuts."

As well as being hilarious there are moments when Glory is actually sinister and scary - like in Tough Love when she sits next to Tara, crushes her hand until it starts to bleed and then feeds on her mind or in Checkpoint when she is at Buffy's house - she just casually sits in a chair chatting to Buffy but the scene is so agonising because we know about Dawn! Similarly in Blood Ties when she is actually interrogating Dawn at the hospital!

Glory is an amazing character, plus she is hot which is a bonus 😛 and I love her minions, their praises of her are just so hilarious!!

🙂

I love that quote.
Well, not THE fan favorite, but she's pretty likeable. I mean, if you're not there with her chasing after you for brain sucking... She's one of my favorite villains though. I like villains that are not too "I'm bad, I'm bad, I'll destroy the world". Glory and the Mayor make me laugh, so that's why I love them so much.

I absolutely love Glory. She was silly at times, which was why I thought the fact that she was so dangerous was brilliant. She was like a valley girl with super powers; it was awesome.

Glory is my favourite big bad. 🙂 She was evil and everything, but all she wanted was to go home, and I couldn't help but feel bad for her. Plus, I really liked how she got so involved like when she showed up at Buffy's house and had a civilized conversation with her in her living room. 😛

I really like Glory. I always love rewatching season 5 because of her.

I really liked Clare's portrayal of her. I liked how over the top she was and so incredibly into herself. Always makes me smile.

I'll admit, while Glory is not my favorite villain, (but not my least favorite by any means), that quote of hers, followed by "Name one person who can take it here? That's all I'm asking, name one," and Dawn says "Buffy", will probably always be my favorite quote of the entire series. Basically because it was so shocking how TRUE she was.

I adore Glory. She's a riot, and definitely my favorite Big Bad after Angelus. She got the best lines. I met Clare Kramer last year, in fact.

I think The Mayor might be my favorite...but I liked Glory. I liked the way that she spoke haha and some of the things she had to say were pretty insightful. I actually found her pretty annoying when I first watched season 5...which is weird because I was younger, but there was always something about her that I liked.

I really like Glory. There is something about her that makes you like her, no matter how evil she acts. Even though she tortured Spike, who is my favorite character, I kept liking her. I think it might have something to do with the actress' portrayal.

I love Glory! My favourite villain of Btvs is the major, but Glory is a very close second. I find her very witty and sassy! 😀 And the whole Ben is Glory thing was so unexpected which made it extra fun!

I agree. The mayor is and always will be my favourite villain. But Glory is a very close second.
