How Do You Feel about Glory?

Love mah Glory. She was funny, attractive and represented the biggest threat to Buffy ever.
A villain shouldn't take himself too seriously in my book and Glory definitely didn't do that. =P She had all the menace of The Master but added a real personality edge to it like you know she'd kill you but she'd be babbling about your shoes while doing it.

I also found her rather well-acted and well, attractive. I don't see how anyone can say she wasn't.

Another reason why I loved Glory-it's like you said. She doesn't take herself so seriously. She was fun.

She could have been a much better character, but honestly, her acting was shockingly horrible.

Had the acting been better, I think I may have liked the story arc much better, but as it was she made this the worse season in Buffy for me. =(

Her acting annoyed me so much!
I love Glory. She reminded me of how I'd be if I were totally evil, heh. 🙂

I also loved how she wasn't a huge monster like Buffy was used to fighting. She was Buffy-sized, a thin female, yet she could beat Buffy up without thinking twice about it. I think it humbled her and, as you said, Glory was her biggest threat yet. (She had to die in order to fix what Glory made wrong, after all.)

Glorificus. Hum. Most of you have said everything there is to be said. I actaully enjoyed the warped sence of entitlement about glory. The self absorbtion. I dont know about love or hate or like or could care less. But i donot think she ranked with the other big bads. I mean she cirtanly was not as bad as the first. I think she was spoiled child. And i think it was her psychological weakness that made her harder for the scoobies to figure out. And part of the reason that buffy *cracked* when glory got dawn. It is like.... it is like.... being outsmarted by a snotty psychotic 13 year old. Glory had a child's demanding, and the strenght to give a deadly temper tantrum but no sanity for planning.

Liked her quips and psychotic ranting. I wonder if her minions would not have fed her, would she have died of starvation?
I also wonder why she slowed down on eating human minds, after the queller demon. Was Ben preventing her.....or did she see the wisdom in laying low. Think of it...........if she slowed down on feeding in oder to keep her profile low......what weakness might she have been hiding?

anyway..... i liked the mayer and the first way better.

come to think of it, the "gods are spoiled teenagers" is pretty traditional. just look at how the Greek/Roman pantheon behaved half of the time.

I like that idea, I wonder if that contributed to the fact that she didn't Glory-out before Giles killed Ben?

^ Well, plus, she'd just had her face repeatedly bashed in by a hammer.
And maybe Glory thought her window had passed, that it was too late to use Dawn to get back home. Maybe Glory didn't want to live if she had to remain trapped here on Earth. Maybe she just sort of gave up and let Ben be killed, because she thought she no longer had anything to live for.

Love her! She is my favorite big bad. And I really have to join those sticking up for Clare's acting because she was brilliant. Her one liners were awesome and in the hands of somebody they could have really been butchered, the whole character could have been butchered. I find no faults in her performance... maybe it takes a certain sense of humor to get it, maybe a dark sense of humor to appreciate how well she portrays insanity, but I always really admired her performance. And I've seen enough of Clare's other work to be able to vouche for her not being a one-dimensional actress, she's been completely different in other roles and IMO put out great performances.

I think one of the greatest things about the Glory character is how she was seemingly Buffy's equal, yes totally insane, but the most "like" Buffy than any of her previous adversaries... or so we think. I think thats why the big moment at the end of Checkpoint where she ask Travers what kind of demon is she and he replies "That's just it, she's not a demon at all. She's a God," is so powerful. In the end we find out that this seemingly petty and crazy young "girl" is in actuality much older and much more powerful than anything Buffy had ever been up against. Very cool I thought.

i thought she was a great villain. she had some great speeches and really profound insight and observations. she was a change from the usual evil.

Completly in love with her !... and her millions of pretty clothes and shoes 😀
I really like Glorificus and even all her minions. For me that's the highlight of season 5. Whenever she appeared it was like my screen was glowing lol

I would choose "I was at first puzzled by the storyline of Glory/Ben and Dawn is the Key" but then "I warmed to Glory/Ben and Dawn is the Key." 😀

Overall, I think it was the acting by Clare that was off-putting. She didn't "suck me in" with her readings. I was always aware of an actress playing the character Glory more than just Glory. Meh, I don't know. :?

Don´t LOVE her... Just like it! It was just a insane woman, strong, with some good quotes, I guess...

The only moment I can say I really thing she was great, was the dialogues with Dawn. They were great.

I LOVED Glory. She was the uber bitch, but so funny about it! I loved that she was just like an overgrown, spoiled teenager. 🙂

I liked her because she was different from all the other Big Baddies. I liked her because she wasn't that obvious in being evil. She's like threatening in a non-threatening way. And funny. And I liked it how Buffy really had trouble hurting her. I mean Spike as the Big Bad was of course, awesome. But because she kept kicking his ass (just as with Warren and co in s6) he just wasn't that bad you know? That's also why I liked Adam and The First, because they were really difficult to defeat. And that's very important for a Big Bad Person. Imo, that is.
