Glory v. Caleb (v. others)

Who do you think was the strongest Glory or Caleb? And where would each of them match up against Illyria (before the Mutari generator) and Marcus Hamilton?

In terms of sheer physical strength, I think Glory would trump Caleb. He'd just be plain outgunned. I mean, she's literally a god.

However, I don't think either of them, or anyone else for that matter, hold a candle to Illyria. Before the Mutari Generator, she was so far ahead of anyone else in the Buffyverse I don't think it was even close. To me, if you pit Illyria up against Glory, Caleb, Dark Willow or anyone else, she'd win.

If we're talking big bad fights though, the one I'd love to see is Caleb vs. Angelus.

I'd agree with you about Illyria, although Glory was weakened by sharing her body with Ben, it's possible that she would have been well matched against Illyria if she was at her full strength, especially considering we know that Glory was probably twice as strong as a regular god?

The Beast Vs Caleb would have been an interesting fight!

Well Illyria is back to her near-full strength, yet didn't fair well against the BS9 Big Bad...

The way it seems, Whistler (Angel's original PTB guide) is by far the most powerful being in the Buffyverse...

We haven't seen Whistler fight an Illyria type figure, wouldn't her being beaten by the siphon be indicative that he is potentially the most powerful being in the buffyverse?

I'd say maybe. The thing with the Illyria/Siphon fight was Illyria tends to fight stupidly. It was the same deal as the Illyria/Hamilton fight, even though she as good technique, she usually relies on her sheer power. When she doesn't have a significant strength advantage, she almost always loses.

I would say Buffy & Angelus are two of the smarter fighters who normally seem to do well even when they're physically outmatched. Look at the Beast fights. Angel was torn apart by the Beast, where Angelus used his speed and tactic to fair well against him.

I would say that considering Pearl & Nash clearly outmatch Slayers or Vampires by miles--they currently have Superman-esque powers, and those guys are scared of Whistler show that he's going to be terrifying when he gets into a real fight.

To Glory, I would say all she had was her speed really. Otherwise, she never demonstrated strength any greater than Shajhan, the Beast, or Jasmine. I could even argue that the Master was stronger than Glory, as Darla was arguably stronger than Buffy, yet Big Bad vamps like Angelus & Darla feared the Master.

Glory smashed a powerful protective spell barrier in one punch with her strength, got hit by a bus/truck (can't remember which?), kicked the **** out of Buffy with her superior strength and ripped half a wall down to get Dawn without breaking a sweat. All of which she did with diminished strength- so her actual strength must be considerably greater.

Also, the fact that Pearl and Nash are scared of Whistler does not necessarily indicate his superior strength, Willow is not strong, but I bet Pearl and Nash would be pretty scared of her?

Glory is in my top 3 of Big Bads so I'm a bit biased. Glory is definitely one of stronger Villains in the series, but she was over confident and relied a lot on brute strength. Caleb was also very slow and relied on his strength given by The First to fight. So a mash up between Glory and Caleb would ultimately come out to be Glory the winner.

They'd probably beat eachother up, but Glory's invulnerability leaves her with a clear advantage.

Caleb vs. Angelus would definitely be an awesome fight.

Glory is physically stronger than Caleb to my mind. They both beat Buffy up fairly well, but so did Dark Willow...and the Master actually killed her. Glory is my favorite of the Big Bads (that's saying something too) but I think she was dangerous because she was so darn crazy and confident in herself. It's a frightening combination.

I didn't warm up to Glory until my rewatch. Until then, I thought Angelus was the best Big Bad.
