Charity is a strange concept and you might not feel comfortable giving money or things like that to different organisations. However there is one thing you can give that goes beyond materialism, and that is the chance of a new life. Hospitals all over the world are constantly in need of blood. Blood that is used to help people survive their illnesses and accidents.

Christmas is almost around the corner and in my book the Christmas spirit is all about compassion and empathy for our fellow human beings.

It only takes you 10-30 minutes and is more or less painful, yet it can be the greatest gift you ever give someone.

Donate blood in England/Wales

Donate Blood in the US

Donate Blood in Canada

Donate Blood in Australia

Donate Blood in New Zealand

I'm sorry I can't provide links for people living in other countries, but a simple google search on "donate blood"+your country will most likely provide you with a link containing all the information you need.

If you can only afford one Christmas gift let this be it. Go out and donate blood today. You can help save a life.

Please.

great post. i wish id thought of it.
I love giving blood. Kinda gives you that feeling of being a superhero. 😉

While I can't donate blood today (In a couple weeks I'll be eligible again), I definitly plan on doing it a ton more before I die...

i give blood whenever i can (which translates into about 3 times a year).

the great thing is that the company i work for has blood drives. a red cross bus will park in our parking lot and all you have to do is walk outside.

btw, the last time i gave, they gave me a t-shirt, an led keychain light and a pen that has an led in it. i dont give blood for the free stuff.........actually, i do like a free soda and cookie every now and then!

Oh, I love the cookies! I give blood a couple time a year, too....the County I work for also does blood drives, same as with you, SW. They park a van outside. Gonna have to hold out for a t-shirt next time, tho! LOL!
