Definitely behind Blondie Bear on Cordy/Angel, to me it felt forced and just not real. Was NOT at all a fan.

Cordy/Connor: Also barftastic I thought, was a little disturbed when it happened I have to admit. Like it was pointed out, she changed his diapers....

Angel/Nina: Largely because I hated Nina's character, just somehow grated me the wrong way. Thought it was kind of random and out of place.

As you can guess, I'm also not a huge fan of Buffy/Riley, Buffy/Spike or Angel/Darla... but those I can at least realise that they surved a purpose and played a role in the development of the characters. The others though, can't say the same. 🙁

Yeah - Angel/Nina was not only boring, but also seemed kind of pointless. I was especially irritated by the way Angel slept with Nina and then, the next day, bought her a plane ticket and said she had no choice but to leave. I get that he was trying to protect her, but... I just have a problem with Angel and his executive decision making when it comes to the lives of the people around him. No secret there.

Spuffy was the worst couple in the history of couples EVER! So as much as I hated Cordy/Connor and Willow/Kennedy..Spuffy takes the cake for my most hated 'ship.

is that just season six, or always?

In defense of Spike, he'd never really met Faith at that time. He probably thought it was Buffy in the Bronze during the body swap. That put the idea into his head about Buffy. He never knew that it was Faith he should have been with all along.
Connor/Cordy=major vomit

Cordy/Angel= forced and no chemistry as lovers (thank you to whomever used that phrase before) Also did anyone else notice that Angel JUST left Buffy because he was too old for her and could not give her a normal life? Why in the world would he then go and hook up with Cordy who is the same age as Buffy? It makes zero sense. And for those who say 'well Cordy had the visions, she wouldn't have a normal life anyway, blah blah blah...' Buffy was a slayer ergo no normal life for her either so that arguement holds no water.

Those are the only two I really despise

Also the curse was a legitimate concern. If he couldn't be with Buffy for that reason, why would it work with Cordy, unless he didn't really love her

Angel left Buffy in season3, when she was 18, on the urge of her mother. When Cangel started to seriously develop, it was season 3 of Angel, 3 years later. There's a difference between a high school girl and a woman in her twenties.

Actually it was The Mayor that first pointed out the impracticality of the Buffy/Angel relationship, so the seed of doubt was already in Angel's mind but because The Mayor was Evil, they chose to ignore him. Joyce then went and said the exact same thing but in a kinder way which Angel found he agreed with. He did love Buffy, and loved her enough to do what was best for her-leave.

For some reason I do see Cangel being more practical than Bangel, but I just don't think they had the same chemistry as Buffy and Angel. It just wasn't there; it always seemed forced. Which is a shame. And then the Connor/Cordelia thing happened and it was this brand new Fredian complex that was a mixture of everything and made any relationship between any of them creepy! Haha.

But at the same time there is still the 200 some odd year age difference between Angel and Cordelia. That doesn't change. The fact that he can't ever give her kids or even have sex with her if he truly does love her doesn't change. I just never bought that Angel would go "oh well I can't be with Buffy cause I can't give her a normal life, but oh wait here's Cordy let's get with her now cause so much has changed in my life over the past three years." It's not believable because of who Angel is, not because of the girl he's with. If he can't be with Buffy because she's human, then why should I believe that he can be in a relationship with Cordelia when NOTHING has changed for him?

EDIT:
Just wanted to point out too that Cangel is the third most hated ship in this poll, only Willow and Kennedy and Cordy and Conner are ahead of it in how much people hate the ships

kind of off topic for a second, sorry, but does anyone think an april fool's joke in this thread might have pulled it off? there have already been disputes here too, right, so it might have been even more believable. just sayin'...

Although I really don't like Willow/Kennedy either (come on... there just are SO MANY better alternatives for Will *gg*), I had to go for Bangel on this one. If I had to hear our favorite vampire gasp an emotional, breathless "Buffy...." just one more time, I would feel compelled to throw heavy objects at the screen. For me, this even ruins the otherwise great moment in "Becoming".

And no, I didn't vote Cordonnor. It wasn't healthy, sure... but Cordy wasn't herself at the time, and it's not nearly as Freudian for Connor as it might seem at first glance, seeing as he never grew up with Cordy as surrogate mother... if you want to take an oedipal spin on it, it's clearly closer to the original, pre-Freudian story - falling in love with the mother he doesn't know she was, and tragedy ensues.
Given his "skipped" growing up - at least in our dimension - there really can't be a psychological incest block between them.

As an aside: What is it with TV shows doing this skip? I mean, the Whedonverse has Connor... Xena did it ad nauseam, and it even happens on Trek, though a little more subtly (the infamous "off-screen-growing spurts" of Alexander Rozhenko, Naomi Wildman and Molly O'Brien - though, in the latter case they toyed with doing the "full skip" on the latter for only one ep and reversed it at the end of the show....)

I remember the 'Buffy...' part....you ruined Bangel for me forever xD
^ In soaps, we call it SORASing (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) and make fun of it all the time.

Generally, when a show decides to age a character, it has to do with the aim to connect to a younger audience. The higher ups feel that the established audience is moving into a higher demographic, and so they have the chance to snag new, young, and potentially long-term viewers viewers with a hot, young, new cast member and maybe a teeny-bopper centric storyline. Usually, they don't want to alienate older viewers by pulling a hot young face out of nowhere and taking airtime from old favorites, so they age a legacy character (read: the offspring of one of the main characters) to an age that is better suited for the stories they want to give him or her. Because the show is trying to connect to a younger audience, that story is usually romantic in nature, and so the legacy character is aged so that not-too-pervy romantic/sexual stories can take place. Connor fits this bill, but he fits it with an extra side of ick.

I voted for Cordelia/Connor. It was so wrong! Cordy was like a mother to him, she carried him as a baby and then they...together? For me it was just ewww..
The one good thing is that Cordy wasn't herself then.

There are several I debated, but I picked Fresley because I hate it and, well, no one else voted it. Others I hate are definitely Cordelia/Connor and Willow/Kennedy.

I voted Cordy and Angel. I just really liked them better in season 1 of Angel when they were friends. They had a lot better relationship then. I didn't think it was right for them to head towards a romantic connection. I think it kind of spoiled what they had.

After this ship I hated the Connor/Cordy relationship. That was just so wrong it was almost disgusting!!

How could anyone hate Cordelia and Angel together?

Seriously people really need to watch Angel properly if they haven't. I couldn't believe it either but they made me fall in love with them more. Who knew! lol!

Good! I´m on the right side of things. 🙂

How could anyone hate Cordelia and Angel together?

I´m not saying they´re hating the ship but it let´s turn to the Bangelshippers as they have a tendency to look down on Cangel. Bangel is about puppylove and romance. The love at first sight-feeling. Nothing wrong with that. Most of us want that for ourselves. Do it stay like that forever? Probably not, but let the Buffyshippers stay in their little dreamworld and think that Buffy and Angel had stayed in that phase forever. I´m not saying this goes for every Buffyshipper but you know how it is.

Cangel on the other hand is based on someting else and some people just have a problem with that. They want to live in their dreamworld, and I say let them. Bangel is qute and all that, but Cangel is more of the real thing. And given the chance they had been just as qute. It´s not like they really got the chance to prove it.

Have I made myself enough enemies yet? I guess so. I´d better shut up so I won´t get in any more trouble. Remember, this is my opinion. It´s not like it´s "the absolute truth".

^ Oh no. I agree. I have this argument with my roomie all the time. I'm a fan of relationships that are based on friendship and a long history of shared experience. I'm also not usually rooting for that whole first love thing. That could have something to do with the fact that I married someone who was previously just a friend. My roomie seems to think that there's not enough passion in a relationship that is based on friendship. No matter how many times I assure her that she's wrong -- that passion can and does exist even when it's not the basis for the relationship -- she insists otherwise. I don't think it's a coincidence that she loves Bangel and despises Spuffy and Cangel, then, whereas I have a strong dislike for Bangel, prefer Spuffy and Cangel to Bangel, and and am rooting for a Bander endgame. I think your own personal experiences and preferences have a lot to do with your opinion of the various Buffy ships.

For my part, I agree with you: I'm not sure what Bangel is based on. Cangel seems to be based on a genuine respect and rapport between two people who have grown so close that they are like family. Bangel seems to be based on wishful thinking and emotional turbulence of forbidden love. Give me the choice of two relationships and I'll choose the one with more substance over the forbidden love thing any day of the week.

Thanks for putting it in "better" words. I completely agree except that I don´t strongly dislike Bangel. It´s just not my favourite by far.
