Gone Were Buffy and Willows Beliefs of Giles.
A story in one part.
Both of them they devoured a few slices of toast each and a cup of coffee. Buffy felt much better, smiling to her friend Willow who was thankful for the mornings sustenance. They each considered each other to be in a better frame of mind as they faced into the quietness of a time that was calculated to be brought from the perfect happiness of a timely inexactitude.
With eyes glowing to each other, the happiness that was counted from the times of exactitude the pair felt moments of joy as each of them gave pleasure to the memory of what their happiness was. Each of them had found a belief in the others point of view which both of them found was lucky for each of them. Buffy and Willow had faith in each other, faith to believe what the other had believed in the days just gone passed.
Willow who pointed to the side of the path that they had just ventured on where Willow had been able to tell Buffy how the track appeared to slope downward to the right. Buffy agreed with her, “Having lived on the hellmouth I would concur that the path might go down into Hell.” Thinking her thoughts might have been dubious, Buffy was shocked when the horse and cart that drove along the path towards the front of them, it carried a coffin that was occupied.
Buffy looked to Willow, “Should we let it pass us and honour its passage?” “No I suggest we give our most unpleasant wishes to the occupant as the carriage passes.” As they continue to wandered further along the path Willow asked if they should try to find out who the occupant of the coffin was. Buffy thought that they should forget but found herself agreeing with Willow. So they decided to stop and seek knowledge of who had been in the coffin.
“Should we find out if the occupant, was evil and was on its path into Hell?” Willow began to agree with Buffy then thought about her answer, “Maybe knowing who the evil was might be good for us but then again if the evil is known to us should we not have killed it?” asked Willow. Buffy allowed herself to smile as she began to chase the horse and cart that carried the coffin, both she and Willow caught up with the carriage as they entered a track that headed down a hill to a cavern.
Buffy destroyed the back of the cart and freed the coffin from the cart, pulling it backwards with Willow so it landed heavily on the ground, Willow pulled the side of the coffin, so she and Buffy could finally see into the coffin. It bore a pile of dust so even if they knew who it was they knew to keep quiet about it. With the top of the coffin open having been open to the elements both Willow and Buffy stepped to the side from it, “I think I know her, though I cannot remember where from,” said Buffy.
Willow was as surprised as her friend. “I cannot remember her name though I am sure she sat at the front of the history class that we attended at Sunnydale High, I remember when leaving the class early one day that I saw her about to get ready to go,” said Willow. “At least she did not become one of the girls who no one knew,” said Buffy. As they tried to remember who the girl was the girl sat up then ran at speed from the coffin, surprised by her movement both Buffy and Willow froze to the sides of the coffin.
“I wish we knew who she was though,” said Willow. Buffy looked to the base of the coffin where she saw a fingerprint on the lining, “Could it be the finger of the Vampire, “said Willow. “Once the finger had come off the vampire it would have become dust,” said Buffy. “Could it be she was another type of demons fingerprint?” asked Willow. Smiling at the vagueness of her memory Willow smiled to herself as she knew the fingerprint was of the girl who attended history class. Buffy asked Giles to find where the girl had lived.
A few days later the girl was found to have lived in the outskirts of Sunnydale. Willow remembered her as one of those who was on the coach that was headed out of Sunnydale when she was after Warren. In agreement with each other found themselves glad they had recognized her. At least her parents could have a funeral for her. Finding a brief relaxation in the park, sat on a bench that overlooked the lake and the swans.
Watching as they sailed over the water both Buffy and Willow were happy in the knowledge that they had found the girl and allowed her great joy when she thought of her parents. Looking at the ripples on the surface of the water behind the swans Buffy started to wonder how the parents of all the humans who had died could have reacted. The more she thought of them the more she was filled with remorse, she faced Willow hoping for understanding.
Willow smiled to Buffy, “Knowing how the parents of the dead who had become vampires should not affect you Buff, how would those parents have known that the love of their life, their child, had become one of the undead an evil bloodsucking fiend?” asked Willow. Buffy thought about what Willow had said and was glad, she knew she was getting older and knew there was a possibility she would one day soon want to have a child.
A thought of hope for the safety of her child became a priority for Buffy. “How can I bring forth a child into this world knowing that my body will hold me back from battling the undead as effectively as I have?” asked Buffy. Willow smiled to her friend, “So now is the time you should allow the knowledge of what needs to be does to become.” “What you seem to have forgotten,” Willow breathed in.
“Or it is something you never knew the ability you have to seek the wonderful if not dreaded demon and still look for others without letting people see what you are thinking.” Buffy grinned to Willow, “There is something you have failed to see about me, it is about the reason why I have not let anyone see me showing any sign of regret or any look of emotion.” “What is it then?” asked Willow. Buffy smiled.
Willow opened the door with the back of her hand so they could both wander outside without leaving their fingerprints behind them. Going to the drivers door of the car Willow put on her driving gloves, gripping the steering wheel she waited until she had put on her seat belt. Doing hers up she accelerated so fast the driving wheels span forcing Buffy back into her seat, “Willow what are you doing?” asked Buffy.
Willow grinned yet without turning to face her friend, “Does the seat belt feel more comfortable now?” asked Willow. Buffy thanked Willow and wished they would soon be where her watcher resided. Willow beamed to Buffy, “I think it wonderful thank you still look forward to a meeting with my uncle Rupert. Buffy gasped, “I never knew that he was your uncle I thought he was from the English museum.”
“Yes Buff that is what we wanted people to think,” Willow tried hard to hide her smile from Buffy. “Giles is much more than a good friend to me as he is to you, though each of us may often hear his voice guiding us,” said Willow.
