The cover story of the December issue of "Sports Illustrated" concerns the fate of the pit bulldogs formerly belonging to Michael Vick. All dogs have been evaluated and certified as non human aggressive and have been adopted in new homes.
 
Shows where my dirty lil mind is.. first thing I think when I see Sports Illustrated is the Swimsuit Issue.. couple that with "good news for dog lovers" and I honestly thought 'dear god, they are having a dog swimsuit issue'

I think I should lay off the coffee & monsters (and diet pills) and actually eat something so I have some higher brain activity.

Poor puppies.
I freak out when my dogs get so much as a cut....I can't even imagine fighting them for fun.

I don't understand people who fight dogs.

It always makes me wonder...don't they ever get even one dog that they really fall in love with? I can fall in love with dogs I meet while taking a walk. How can they possibly go through all these dogs and never find even one that shows them this isn't the right thing to do?

If it was cock and not dogs no one would be nearly upset? Why dont so many people get up in arms over cock fighting. Or bull fighting? We have a soft spot for the dog. We view them as almost human.. so the idea is that dog fighting is far worse action than the cock or bull (though bull is even worse) but it's all the same thing.

Personally, I believe that there's a special place in Hell reserved just for people who enjoy abusing children or animals.
I'd feel exactly the same if it were ANY other kind of animal. People are sick.
If you didn't know.... I'm the annoying Animal Rights activist of the board. 😀

The ironic part of the whole thing is that both PETA and the Humane Society of America recommended that all of the dogs be euthenized.
I don't like cock or bull fighting either.
Not that roosters are known for being cuddly, but it's still cruel.
And Bull fighting is just utter nonsense on all levels. That makes even less sense. At least the cock fighters and dog fighters have the good sense to stay out of the ring.
Bull fighters are just insane.
 
Rodeo also makes me sick. So ridiculous.
Have any of you seen Earthlings. You'd probably ball
your eyes out but everyone NEEDS to see it.

I don't like cock or bull fighting, either, but you're exactly right that we think of dogs as almost human...they're parts of our families. That's why people don't get upset about cocks or bulls...they're not man's best friends, tho fighting them is just as bad as dog fighting.

Yea Earthings would throw you into depression then. It's like how us as humans totally destroyed this earth and all other living creatures and it's real footage of how sick we can be. Narrated by Joaquin Phoenix.
 
In general I don't like bloodsports, especially with animals.

I am guilty of liking boxing and MMA/Ultimate Fighter. There is a huge difference between those things and animal fighting though...biggest one would be concent and choice. My wife does not like it though and doesn't want our son watching it.

I agree with her there, he's too young and can't appreciate the 'art' part of the martial.

back on topic...for those pit bulls I could not be happier.

I hope they all go to good homes.

It only takes a single screw up in their adoption process for one of them (since they are no doubt now all registered) to be adopted by a 'Vick in sheeps clothing' who treats dogs as weapons (without knowing how to train correctly) to set up a possible dog mauling and resulting panick that could lead to good animals getting the hot shot by 'guilt of association'.

Course that happens everyday when people don't nueter or spay their pets and let them roam all over. Animal overpopulation is to the point where I don't understand the need for pet stores (and dislike 'puppy farms') People might serve animals better by just going to the pound and granting a pet a pardon.

UFC started out as a legitimate inter-martial art contest with very strict safety rules. Somehow, it's deteriorated into just a slug fest. No art, very few rules.
YAY! - I love when a "bad story" has a happy ending! - so YAY for the dogs! - and I hope Michael Vick rots in hell along with every other animal abuser on the planet.

I too am the irritating animal rights' activist. 😀
