Some random thoughts: yay for yummy sushi pajamas! What is it with Buffy & the bandanas? Not a good development on the hair/fashion front. I thought Marc Blucas' acting in this one was really good.

Buffy says (to Giles & Anya): "OK you guys, could we not, please? Everything's screwed up enough without you two doing scenes from my parents' marriage." Am I the only one that reads subtext in Giles & Anya's relationship? Yes, she appears as a teenage girl, but she's a very old vengeance demon (& besides, she never appeared as young as the others to me). I always thought there was a very different dynamic with them, & I love them in Tabula Rasa!

I love it when Buffy "has to" punch Willy.

And I so love Xander here:
Xander (upon entering the Initiative Headquarters): Holy moly!
Buffy: I know.
Xander: I totally get it now. Can I have sex with Riley, too?

Sigh, I really hate Adam. He's the only Big Bad that I have absolutely no empathy for. Well, the Master too I guess. Angelus & Spike were so awesome in season 2, had to love them. The Mayor was hilarious in season 3. Glory, too. And we really felt for Willow in season 6 (even the Evil Trio had their funny moments). Of course The First wasn't really an entity, so we couldn't feel for it at all. Alright, so I only have empathy for a few of them, give the girl a break! My point was lost after all. :tongue3: Oh well, it's late, off to bed.

I hate Adam too, and not crazy about my brother whose name is Adam either (:
I'll start with the bandanas...I guess Buffy's fashion in season 4 was a little weird, she wore a cow-boy hat in Pangs but I expect that from Buffy, she's quirky and very cute. Marc Blucas, well, not bad, he wasn't great but generally good nonetheless. About Anya and Giles, they were stellar in Tabula Rasa but I always find couple subtext in Buffy-Giles (especially in Pangs and in season 5 with all the Dawn stuff as if they were parents). It's my idea but I always wondered about those two (as Spike did LOL); I'd love to see a Biles thing. Adam i sooo lame, I'll never stop saying it, it was boring and his personality wasn't developed as it should've been...I agree with you about The Mayor (he was one of the best villains for me) but I love The Master, A LOT.

Buffy always dressed weird at some point but hey isn't that why we love her?
I think Marc did a very good job and I agree about Adam. If I were to look back at the series and say best villains and moments he wouldn't even make the list. I sometimes enjoy season 4 less for his part, but over time I have gotten used to him. I think the trio was better than him by far. I guess it is hard when you have diabolical super-villains like Spike, Angel, The mayor, and even Glory. 😉

Love your banner!

Really? She did? Oh, yeah, here it is:

Well, how very Sarahjessicaparker of her!

Eww, no, to me it's always a father-daughter thing, I never see that.

Y'know, it's weird, I'm liking the whole Initiative idea better than I did in previous viewings. It's kind of X-File-ish, but maybe could've been done better. And even though I dislike Adam, I guess it makes sense that if we have the Initiative then the villian needs to be a human-monster-machine cyborg (tryborg?).

Chosen Enemy agrees: I hate Adam too, and not crazy about my brother whose name is Adam either 🙂

LOL! Aw, your poor brother's unfortunate name choice.

The cowboy hat is just so random. But, then Pangs was kinda random.

I agree. I've always liked the Initiative, but, yeah, it could've been written better. Adam didn't need to be a Big Bore. Maggie Walsh could've lived longer--she was a great bad guy and would've kept things interesting. And, maybe if the Initiative had been introduced before half the season was over, more could've been done to flesh them out.

Isn't the cowboy hat a Maddona thing? I think it might have been a very short while fashion. The bandanas I remember it was the fashion. But again, very short one. I didn't think it was weird just because I recall people wearing it. Not too many of them though. Thank god, because I don't think it fits the shape of my head 😛

I agree. As much as I hated the Maggie Walsh character, it's like we found out what she was really about, then bam, she's dead! It would've been more interesting to explore her relationship with Riley.

I guess I just don't like the fact that those people of the Initiative, and that's many people, they all know about vampires and demons. It's supposed to be a Slayer thing, secret. Sure some of Sunnydale's residents know about vampires but not talking about it, but it always seemed weird to me that there's an operation in there that actually found out about the whole demon thing world, and decided to secretly fight it. How was the Initiative idea born? From Walsh? And how did they put together such a huge group of people and told them about the demons they will have to fight against, how did they react to that, how was it done? I'm still puzzled about the whole Initiative thing.

A better back story for the Initiative would have been nice, rather than BAM they're there!

I didn't know that it was in fashion for a little bit, but I'm not too surprised. I think on another thread that it was mentioned how Buffy's S1 wardrobe seemed a little... strange, but was the type of clothes that were "in" then.

Makes me wonder if we're going to look back at the shows on now and go "people wore that?"

Oh, c'mon, it was inevitable, I mean the "guv'ment" knows about everything!

I forgot to ask: what is the deal with the I Love Dirt shirt Xander is wearing? I've seen it on CafePress, but I have no idea what it means. Anyone?

I hope everyone here doesn't automatically relate people's names to characters of Buffy. We have a member here by the name of Adam, and I've never disliked or been reminded of the awful S4 Big Bad. 😉

I agree about him though, he was just that one Big Bad that you're always going to forget about. There wasn't anything really spectacular or memorable about him at all. I did love Dr. Buffy in this episode! 😀

The only thing that I really like about him is the Scoobies plan to defeat him in Primeval. The whole joining of their essences is really cool.

I loved that. How each person in the group was a different body part, like the heart, and so on. I didn't like how Buffy spoke though. Kinda freaked me out. I liked the doves thing though.

ha ha I just watched this episode again and I was also wondering about the bandana. She contemplates what do do about her relationship with Riley, makes a comanding speech in her sushi pajamas, then goes to find the Polgara demon that just killed a child....but on the way she has time to think "maybe I'll wear this cute little bandana" lol Yeah sure, gotta look cute while kicking but, right? lol

Buffy (in glasses): Xander! Soldiers and scientists do NOT make out!
Xander (in fatigues): Have you ever thought that might be what's wrong with the world?
