We got such an awesome response to the first Game of Thrones appreciation thread, I thought it'd be a neat idea to start a second one, but as a poll this time. For those that have seen the show and read the books, who is the greatest warrior in the series?
Now, because so much happens to so many characters, there are deaths and other things going on constantly, let's say for clarity that the below list takes them at their physical and mental peak during the series. I'm not including people who are older now, like Robert Baratheon, but who used to be great warriors before going to seed. Just how we see them in the series.
Also, because there are so many of us reading the books and watching the show, and because we're all at different points, let's try and keep spoilers to a minimum, or at least on who lives and dies.
From what I've seen so far, my pick is Ser Jaime Lannister. He's a very complex character with some big flaws, but on the battlefield he's the man. Every time he's in battle he takes out five or six men. He never backs down from a challenge, ever, even against long odds, and in his duel with Eddard Stark he looked to be winning solidly. It's frequently stated that he's he's a regular tournament champion and other characters (like Jorah Morment) have said that on their best day, they could only draw with him. However, Loras Tyrell did defeat him in book one in a joust, and Brianne came mighty close a few times as well.
I came close to picking Bronn as well. He's an incredibly skilled fighter on the show, and he stands toe-to-toe with Sandor Clegane.
Also, if you want to pick someone not listed feel free. I'm sure I forgot someone.
