Graduate school

After much thought, I have decided to go back to school and start working towards my graduate degree.

Starting this summer, I will be attending Heritage University, located in Toppinish, WA, entirely online and part time to start, working towards my Masters of English in Multicultural English Literature and Language, with a concentration in Writing!

I’m both excited and nervous to go back to school, but it feels right.

I still want to teach English, at the college level ideally.

Is anyone else on here in graduate school? What are you studying?

No, I'm not moving back, I'm just attending a college there. The program includes working towards my teaching endorsement in Washington, which will come in handy when I move back (which I plan to do at some point).

That's awesome Joan! That sounds like a super interesting course. My colleague and I are debating on starting our Ed. D. together. It's a three year program, but we figure if we do it together, we could support each other!

I've finished it now but I did English at undergraduate level and then Archaeology for my Masters. Half of English got pushed online because of Covid lockdowns but I didn't really mind 😅 what modules are you doing?

I've finished it now but I did English at undergraduate level and then Archaeology for my Masters. Half of English got pushed online because of Covid lockdowns but I didn't really mind 😅 what modules are you doing?

Not sure yet! I've been accepted into the program and done the financial aid, but not signed up for classes yet for summer quarter.
But looking at the list for the first quarter, it looks like I have several options!
I'm leaning towards Young Adult Fiction and Literary Theory.

Young Adult Fiction is so fun! I did an YA Lit class in undergrad and LOVED it!

It's official! I start in the fall! All my financial aid is good and I am good to go! Excited!

I am not sure what you were doing before but I think it is fair to say you have graduated from that to be accepted in a Graduate Degree and should you successfully complete it you will be a Graduate?

How exciting! I'm done with my graduate studies (unless I want to try to get a doctoral degree), but I thought it was very fun and rewarding to do it (ok, there was some hair-pulling and tears too).

When I was temporarily tired of my field, I tried something new and I got into a Young Adult Fiction program, but dropped it almost immediately as it wasn't for me. Hoping you'll love it and keep us posted as to how it goes, I'm sure you'll do great!

Ha, yes! I have an undergraduate degree in English and theatre, so this is a continuation of my English studies. Thank you!
