I am sorry to have to post this sad news, but I was just told by one of his friends that Grayson has sadly been killed. Wednesday night he stopped to help a stranded motorist and was hit by what appears to be a drunk driver.

This is very hard for me to sit here and type. I know that I can speak for Faith and myself when I say Kevin was one of our very favorite people on these boards. He was such a kind and gentle person - never wanting to bother anyone and always willing to help. I will miss him so very much.

There really is nothing I can type that will show what i'm feeling at the moment. Still pretty much in shock. Kevin was such a great guy and he will never be forgotten.

I don't know what to say. This is absolutely terrible to hear. He will be missed here, and we should all pray for him and his family tonight 🙁

I have never heard of him but still, sad all the same. Whats really tragic was it was a drunk driver, stupid people.

I also didnt know Grayson.
Its very sad though, its weird. Unfair.
I dont know what to say.
My thoughts go out to all his family and friends, and people that knew him on here!

Thats so sad,Its totally unfair.hopefully his family will be ok.. 🙁

gray was hella cool...

i'll go do something nice for a stranger tomorrow...in his memory..

I didn't know him but i've seen him around this is going to be really sad now comming on the board but he seemed really nice and i hope his family and friends are gonna be alright...

Oh God...I'm sorry to all of those that were close to him. Do you happen to now any more about the people who hit him? I hate dunk drivers. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

The following was posted by a friend of Kevin's over at the The Daily Planet.

As you already know, Kevin was taken from us on the evening of Wednesday, November 5th. He was helping a motorist in the breakdown lane of I-85 in Atlanta when a drunk driver mistook the two stationary cars for a moving lane of traffic, and struck the rear car.

Kevin was pinned between the two cars. He remained conscious for some time after the accident. It was a blessing that he was in little to no visible pain, and had the opportunity to say goodbye to those he loved dearest. I brought his wife the the scene and was one of those present as he left us.

As for the driver who took his life, he fled the scene but was apprehended about one hour later. A repeated DUI offender, he remains in prison at this time.

A personal insight: I've known Kevin for about ten years, and we shared a love of comics and heroic fiction. I noticed a 'larger-than-life' quality about him myself (well beyond his 6 foot+ frame), and told him half-jokingly more than once that he would have made a great superhero.

This was a man who would see elderly or poor people while eating at a diner, and secretly pay their check for them. He would step in to defend a smaller man or woman who was being hassled. He even kept an empty pet carrier in the trunk of his car, stocks with treats, leashes, and a first aid kit so that he could help hurt or lost animals he found. Though a tragic loss, Kevin did leave us while helping a stranger; doing the kind of thing he loved... and we all loved him for.

Oh jeez...now I'm crying...that was so sad...he sounds like he was a real life hero. It's this kind of thig that makes you question the existance of God. Why someone like that would be taken from this world. We need people like Kevin here.

I'm glad they snaged the SOB that did it. SECOND offender DUI! I hope he stays in jail for a LONG LONG time! That's just rediculous...

He was such a great guy, and finding out those things that he did, it was hardly a surprise as he was gentle natured and such a kind soul.

I didn't know him but I'm soz.
It reminds us that death can come all of sudden, & that we might be glad to live, even when it's hard, & tell the ones we love that we do.
We should take him as an example since u say he was gentle & kind, & I hope this family could overpass mourn and keep the memory of the so nice guy he was.

I didn't know Grayson but reading all of the above I now have a knot in my throat and a funny feeling in my belly. To lose a man of such great quality really is terrible and to lose him to such stupidity (drink driving) is just so wrong.

My heart and thoughts go out to his family, friends and anyone that was blessed with knowing him on the boards.

Its a shame that I never got to know Grayson. All I can hope for is that he rests in peace and his family gets justice for his death.

... that's a shock.

I didn't like know him very well, but still it's very sad that someone that young dies, especially if it's at the hands of someone, who drank too much and drove a car. Some people can be so selfcentered. Ugh, it's horrible.

I just saw this thread... I saw Grayson's posts around the boards but never spoke with him on a more personal level. I can only pray that his family is as okay as they can be at a time like this. Nothing makes me more angry than a good person suffering because of an ignorant person's horrible actions. My thoughts are with him and his family.🙁

I too did not know this gentleman, but had seen him here and there on the Boards. He seemed like a good guy.

It's always a terrible thing to lose the good people of this world, especially in that fashion.
I certainly hope justice has been done in Grayson's name.

My heart to his family, and to those who knew him.

May peace be yours now, young man.
Rest...you've earned it.

I only knew Grayson from his frequent and valuable posts at The Daily Planet. I didn't know him on a more personal level like some of you, but I could tell that he was a great guy. Even though I read this first on the Daily Planet a few months ago, I still can't believe he's gone, especially when I read one of his old posts.
