Watched "becoming part 2" today and i think its one of the best episodes in the show's history. However i find it really hard to watch the end of it with that song playing in the background, Buffy crying, the Bangel song as Angel gets pushed into hell, Buffy leaving Sunnydale. I get a feeling in the pit of my stomach which i suppose is a sign of the epicness of the show, but it is also a little uncomfortable, really sad.

I get the same sort of feeling when watching the climax of "The Gift". What happens at the end is so sad that i find it hard to watch. Again it is a great episode but it is such a moving episode.

Spike's tears, Buffy's speech to Dawn, her last wishes, great moments but also horrible moments at the same time.

I think it shows how much you care as a fan when these sort of episodes move you, anyone else have other episodes which they find hard to watch? Do people get what i am saying?

Of course we get what you're saying! 🙂

I have a hard time watching "The Body." In fact, I've only seen it a few times altogether, where other episodes I've seen dozens of times. It's just really disturbing. When I was a kid, my greatest fear was my mother dying and leaving me alone. My father passed away when I was young...and I guess the episode just hits too close to home for comfort.

And I agree: I find "The Gift" incredibly sad (I always cry) but also uplifting, too. Buffy jumped to save her sister. It was the ultimate heroic sacrifice for love.

For me, the hardest episode to watch is "Dead Things", yet strangely, it's one of my favorite episodes. I feel so much for both Buffy and Spike in this episode. The scene is the alley always makes me cringe (I am not your girl! You don't have a soul! There is nothing good or clean in you. You are dead inside! You can't feel anything real!) and the scene where Buffy breaks down in Tara's lap. So sad...

Agree with the ones mentioned above, but also..

Innocence, most notably the scene where Buffy interacts with who she thinks is Angel but it's Angelus. The scene in her bedroom where she breaks down.. Angelus kissing her and throwing her onto the ground.

Hell's Bells, when Anya is practicing her vows and Xander is walking away in the rain, and when Xander leaves at the end.

The Prom, when Buffy is crying into Willow's lap.

That scene in Innocence is so horrible! So sad.
There are a lot of those episodes for me, some of those mentioned above (The prom, The body, Hells bells) but also Hero and I will remember you from Angel.

The Body for sure. A whole episode of stark, uncomfortable grieving with no real catharsis. It's incredibly well done, but most of the time I'd rather watch something less painful. Many other episodes are very sad as well, but not in quite the same way.

I'll agree and say The Body, too. I usually miss it out when I rewatch that season. It's a great ep, but it always brings me down when I watch.

The Body is indeed one of those episodes that I really cry my eyes out. I have watched it once whole and I had done a scene rewatch afterwards. I can't stand it although it's one of the episodes where all actors and most of all Sarah amazes me.

I will remember you...well knowing what's gonna happen in the end makes me so sad.It takes all the hope away. I always cry when Sarah cries. And David also got emotional and that is so touching.

The Gift, last scene is one of the most heroic, most epic and saddest scene in the Buffyverse. :cry3:

Also in Angelverse, what's the episode where Angel loses Connor from Holtz? and then he visits Wes in the hospital. I also cry there. It is a very emotional episode and it has a great power of emotions. After so many difficulties Angel loses his son, Wes betrays him and then he is betrayed by Holtz.

I think it's pretty obvious. The Body, A Hole in the World, Sleep Tight, Seeing Red. After Sleep Tight, I just have to keep telling myself, "It's gonna ok. Connor comes back. Everyone's happy eventually. Everyone forgets." But then I just think Connor really doesn't come back. Angel doesn't get to see Connor grow up... 🙁 It's so hard to watch...

The Body is the only episode of any TV show that I point-blank refuse to watch again (I've seen it maybe 3 or 4 times). There's just too many heart-rending scenes. From Buffy's initial discovery of Joyce to Giles turning up, then Anya's speech & Xander smashing his fist through the wall (that is so me) to the scene in the hospital when the Doctor is telling them what happened & Buffy has that dream sequence where she managed to save her mom. God, even writing about this now is getting to me. I acknowledge wholeheartedly the skill of the actors & writers in creating this piece of television, but TV for me is supposed to be entertainment. Yes I want to be taken on an emotional journey but I can derive no entertainment or enjoyment from watching this episode, so I don't anymore. All I thought about when I watched this episode is the people who have actually gone through the experience of finding a loved one dead before their time. I have sworn to myself to never watch it again.

I'll pick two per series:

Buffy: Passion and The Body

Angel: Sleep Tight and You're Welcome

All well done but yeesh!

"The Body" is a given, most notably when Willow is trying to pick out an outfit to visit Buffy at the hospital and Anya's speech about not understanding death.

Also, Willow's desire for Xander and her break up with Oz both strike up a lot of emotion for me, namely because I've been through numerous very similar situations.

Tara's murder the day after she and Willow get back together was cruel. The first time I watched "Tough Love" broke my heart.

I can't watch most of the Buffy/Angel scenes. They're a lot like the Edward/Bella scenes in Twilight. Tense and far too fairytale romantic.

No way. The first time I watched it I literally broke down when Buffy said "they said not to touch the body!" After that it's like a downhill cry fest. I never cried as much, but I did shed a couple of tears throughout the episode.

During a rewatch, when I get a few episodes away from Seeing Red, I feel absolute dread. The early part with Dawn finding out about Willow and Tara's reconciliation is delightful, but I always have a knot in my stomach because I know what's coming. The same thing happens with Hell's Bells. I love to watch the adorable Anya preparation scenes, but the end of the episode is like a kick in the gut.

Also the end of Tabula Rasa. It's one of my favorite episodes, but the ending with Good-bye to You is so sad. Everyone's at rock bottom.

The sewer break-up scene in The Prom makes me nauseous.

Hell's Bells and Sleep Tight.

HB - The "future" scenes are terrible. I rewatched it last night and covered my eyes when Xander grabbed that frying pan. Ugh, I totally hate that scene

ST - Wes getting his throat slit is so horrible! I rewatched that last night too and I covered my eyes, lol.
