I have been doing some film watching lately, and I have found two great films that i can think of. They are
American history X
Fight Club

I swear... these are just some amazing movies. AHX has a beautiful morral. But FC just freaking blows my mind as to it's plot. Have you ever seen either?

Here is your home work, If you visit this thread and read it all, you must recommend one great movie that you have seen in your time. Try not to recommend the samethings a hundred times!
Ready GO!!!!! ::light::

Off the top of my head...

Not sure if they'd be considered "of our times", but any movie where Clint Eastwood has a horse (Unforgiven, Pale Rider, The Good The Bad & The Ugly... etc.).

Star Wars. The original trilogy revolutionized special effects, created a fairy tale which is appreciated generations later, and its appearance in theatres was an unforgettable moment for many people in the '70s.

Die Hard. Just 'cause it kicked butt. I don't think any other movie has spawned so many imitators.

Pulp Fiction is widely regarded as a masterpiece. It was also the first truly successful post modern film.

The Evil Dead series. They made a star out of Bruce Campbell and were among the first films to blend comedy and horror... intentionally anyway.

Tombstone. One of the better recent Westerns.

The Hellraiser series. It changed the face of modern horror movies... and created a sub-culture obsessed with body modification.

I agree with the AHX suggestion. Wonderful, insightful movie. Somewhat along those lines, I would say Schindler's List is one of the greatest films ever made. SLC Punk and Trainspotting are also among the greats, I think. And, finally, anything with Mel Gibson, particularly Braveheart and the Lethal Weapon series.

This is great i have so much to see now! And just so i am not some one who gives a direction and can't follow it i shall promote another film...

This has got to be just... it is... there are no words for this film. It's creepy, but in a sadening, touch your heart, always watching your back type of way. This movie just left me awe struck. And it is so simple. There is just such a beautiful grace about how Robin williams plays a delusionist. I recommend this film also.

Yeah, watch Cruel Intentions, it has SMG. :: red :: 🙂

Ooooh, watch From Hell, that was cool. It's about some detective person trying to find Jack the Ripper (set in Engliand, back than...).

I am reading a buffy book entitled "Blood and Fog" it's about the scoobs trying to hunt down jackie boy to.

As ever, you guys have come up with some cracking films including some of my all time faves. But, not wishing to repeat anything already posted, can I recommend the film "Memento"? (here's the IMDb page for it - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209144/). It stars Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss and Joe Pantoliano and is directed by Christopher Nolan (currently helming the new Batman film). I don't want to give anything away except to say don't be put off by the non-linear narrative (OK, the story unfolds backwards). It means you have to keep your brain turned on but it is an ultimately excellent movie.

Here's the official movie site btw - http://www.otnemem.com/index.html - which is quite a fun experience in itself and if you really can't be bothered (you should, you should) an Easter egg on the dvd lets you watch the film the "right" way round 😉

I read that book! Jack the Ripper is actually a demon in that, he's 50% demon of one species and 50% of another. It was weird... Spike got his ass kicked by The Ripper!

Oh, I just remembered a movie, it's funny and kind of weird... Yeah, it's Clueless.

Well I read the updates so I need to post again, but it is ok, because I have 2 excellent films
Speed
and The golden child

Granted not as good as my originals, but still timeless classics in themselves
