Hi everyone I am new here but very excited to discuss some of my favourite shows (Buffy and Angel). I am fully prepared to go on long, passionate rambles and share my buffyverse opinions, even if some are controversial.

I remember that lust for the kill
How long ago did you watch the show? What made you want to watch it?
I first watched Buffy three years ago after my mum recommended it to me as she was a fan of the show when it was airing. I quickly fell in love with it due to its complex and relatable characters. A year later I watched Angel for the first time via the DVDs and it became my favourite TV show. I had an instant connection with it. Thank you for the interest! What is your buffyverse origin story?

I'm too old to remember but it started with the movie. It always interests me when younger people watch it. Do you think you would have even bothered had not your mum recommended it?

I'd like to think I would have but I'm honestly not sure. I wasn't the biggest fan of season 1 on my first watch-through (I love it now though) so I only stuck with it because I had nothing better to watch at the time. I at least wanted to wait until the introduction of my mum's favourite character (Spike) before I gave up on it. I am so glad I kept watching though because by the time I reached the episode "Surprise" I was fully invested. Buffy has definitely impacted the kind of television I watch though. I find myself watching shows from the 90's (like Charmed, Dawson's Creek and Twin Peaks) more often than I do modern ones.

Welcome to the forum! I saw both Buffy and Angel when they aired and I have the DVD's of both series now, so I can watch any episode anytime. We welcome long rambles and controversial opinions here and this place is more civil and intelligent than most fan forums.

Welcome. The Buffyverse is one of my favourite franchises along with TMNT. I‘ve been a long-ish fan since 2009 when I started watching the first three seasons of Buffy on Syfy UK.

So, which characters of Buffy The Vampire Slayer series could you relate to? I'm guessing anyone who helps to actually kill vampires is a no-no.

You say you like to go on long passionate (verbal?) rambles, if so we are a match made by the PTB as I often forget what I'm writing/ thinking and I'll go on about another subject until I remember the initial conversation, plus I just love confusing the heck outta folk.
Now, I take it you didn't begin watching the show when it initially aired UNLESS of course, that you are a vampire who is 14 years old and has been for 26 years
that is if you were turned at the outset of the series.
Which brings us to the obvious question - was it my dear friend Darla who turned you,
AND
who is/was your mum's favourite character?
And this is the important part: as your answer to my question could make the rest of your time here quite interesting! 🙂

And er welcome to the boards. Please note that your answers to the above questions cannot be wrong as you are of Black Thorn

Thank you for your response! The character I relate to most is probably Wesley as I too am a bit of a perfectionist and tend to beat myself up when things don't go to plan. I also have a tendency to take things into my own hands and I know what it feels like to think that you're not good enough. Plus, we're both English! So much in common. I was indeed turned by Darla around 300 years ago meaning that I was around before the show even aired. My mum's favourite character is Spike (who is one of my favourites from BtVS as well) but she also really loves Buffy. I'm honestly not sure why seeing as she tries to kill so many harmless vampires.

ILLYRIAN
ILLYRIAN
I wasn't sure how to start this comment, I thought of - So, then I considered A-ha but really I just want to know what Darla's real name was, if you remember.
ILLYRIAN- Darla's original was Lilith. The name means night monster. Darla was always destined to become an infamous vampire.
