Grey's Anatomy

Greys Anatomy removes many more characters in the following seasons 🙁
Removing character is not the problem, it's more the way it is done. I mean if a character died (like Dennis) or just leave for another hospital (like addison), then at least we have reasons, acceptable or not, depends on the person but we have reasons.. But Burke and now Hann ? all we have is "he/she is gone, i don't want to talk about him/her" 😵 It's not like he/she was there during several seasons/episodes ^^

Well Burke like I said was due to backstage reasons. Homophobia is unacceptable. As for Hahn , we actually have no idea why she left,
The actress said they ran out of story for her or something.

Awwwwwwwwwwww 😳😳😳

They try to wrap up the stories for the most part, but I think if the actor was a thorn in Shonda's side, she sometimes went a little overboard. Poor George was run over by a bus and disfigured to where no one recognized him. Then more recently, Derek was hit by a car and died because the surgeon in charge was negligent.

The actor who played George complained about how his character was written and the actor who played Derek was rumored to have cheated on his wife. I think in both cases, Shonda wasn't too happy and maybe made their deaths a little more brutal than they had to be. But they definitely added to the drama. 🙂

YIKES - they haven't finished watching the show yet! Let me know if you need help tagging for spoilers :)
Did anyone buy the whole George being in love with Meredith bit?

Yeah, I did, but it was very much presented as an idealized/extremely romanticized version of love. I think he did have genuine feelings for her but saw her as "unattainable" and so his feelings morphed into an unhealthy obsession.

I did feel sorry for him when she slept with him knowing how he felt about her. But then I lost all sympathy for him when he started treating Callie like crap (and never really stopped doing so).

I felt sorry for him too but honestly what did he think? She is a mess over Derek. Sometimes on rewatch I don't see much of a closeness between Mere and George and such a tight bond between him and Izzie who is just as beautiful so I wonder why Meredith was the object of his affection and not Izzie (initially ... because you know that changes).

Outside of Meredith and Derek, the relationships in this show give me whiplash. George goes from I love Meredith, to being kinda? into Callie, to loving Izzie within the span of just a over a season. Izzie goes from liking/sleeping with Alex to being in love with Denny, to being in love with George in the matter of what feels like a season or so...

I've got it on as background while I work this is why I'm commenting. 🙂

I think Izzie's feelings for George are explainable as sort of a rebound from Denny's death. She was so messed up over Denny's passing that her feelings just kind of transferred to the closest person (George) whom she latched onto because she was feeling so alone and grieving Denny so heavily.

Also, remember that Alex cheated on her with Olivia, so her feelings for him were kind of disappearing when she met Denny, whom I adore her with. I loved their relationship so much.

I'm currently rewatching Season 6, I haven't watched the early seasons in so long! Man, I should go back to them sometimes (although I kind of hate Season 3).

Yes and no ! I understand why he fell under her charm but for me the chemistry between the actors was more friendly than passionate. Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo have love chemistry whereas I think Tr.Knight and Ellen have buddy chemistry.

I don't think she knew.

Same for me. In the beginning, I liked George but when he started his relationship with Izzie while I prefer her with Alex and while he is with Callie who is a character I love, he really disappointed me and he never grew on me after all that mess. The thing is, I'm on season 6, he just dies and I don't care.

Yeah, this is a thing I have notice..

I largely prefer Izzie and Alex, I hate Dennis !

If I remember correctly, he basically tells her that he's in love with her and that's pretty much why she sleeps with him, so she def knew. And in the next episode Cristina even calls her out on it.

Denny and why do you hate him? Just curious, because honestly, he didn't have all that much characterisation and he never did anything wrong/bad/harmful to Izzie.

Oops, yes, you're right. But what I meant was he never told her he loved her before the moment he slept with her. Also, Meredith was not in a very healthy mental state when she slept with him, she was elsewhere. It's not George's fault because he didn't know, I know !

the actors have no alchemy, it's nothingness between them. physically they don't go together, the age difference is seen. And then Denny's situation was not a single second moving for me, I really do not see what she finds him. I was quite happy when he died, unfortunately for me he keeps coming back and I'm tired of him. When you do not like basic story, it's drunk to always talk about him

Isn't it interesting, I thought Izzie and Denny had amazing chemistry! It's funny how different people see pairings in completely different ways.

I loved Denny and I loved Izzie and Denny together, I was so gutted when he died. It was actually that finale that really suckered me into Grey's, before that I wasn't terribly invested, but I personally found that relationship and storyline so endearing and heartbreaking.

That being said, I also love Izzie with Alex, especially in Season 5 when they actually build their relationship and communicate and have trust and respect. Pity Season 6 completely steamrolls over that.

I mean, I get that Shonda was pissed off at Katherin Heigl, but I honestly think it would have been better to have just killed Izzie off instead of completely wrecking her character and screwing up her and Alex's relationship.

some producers, when they have a problem with an actor, do not make the difference between fiction and reality, and they take revenge on the character. coughs Joss coughs joss

I haven't watched the Izzie /Denny stuff in a while and I just rewatched yesterday. Izzie is unhinged. Like - she shouldn't be fit to practice medicine. She is out of control And I get it she loves him but... he was stable on the LVAD the other guy basically dies so that Denny can get a heart sooner. I forget how bad this is. While I appreciate the love story element the RL implication is pretty bad.

Oh, for sure, IRL she'd be instantly fired and possibly charged with manslaughter. However, Grey's is essentially a soap opera, a very well-written and superbly acted soap opera, but a soap opera nonetheless, and as such, the rules of reality are stretched.

But honestly, that's half the fun of the show, the heightened reality, the extreme emotions, the adrenaline-fueled traumas. It's very easy to get sucked in to all that.
