Wow, that was pretty good! I almost forgot that even though Fox is crap, they can do something right. 😉
I'm so bored of people complaining about Fox and other networks.
The networks are a business and will do everything they can to make money.
If they feel they are losing or will lose money, they will stop.
On the few occasions they have made mistakes they have made steps to rectify it, sometimes with success (Family Guy springs to mind) and sometimes failing (Serenity didn't hit the figures required for a sequel which is considered a successful number).
Yes, in the past programmes some people have been interested in have been failed to keep the networks interested, I have had some thing I have enjoyed cancelled, but they have given chances TO the shows in the first place - they are under no obligation to do that.
That's true, but if nobody complained then there wouldn't be any successful returns like Family Guy.
That was terrrrrrible. Im still excited to see the show for other reasons obviously but as a promo thats terrible... for both TSCC and Dollhouse.... do these ad people even watch these shows?
I get they were going artistic grindhouse whatever but that seriously misses the mark for promoting a NEW tv show aswell as missing the mark for reeling in new TSCC viewers. ...and im not sure what people are going to be looking for when they tune in to both shows for 'Dames of Deception'. Lame.
I agree that these people are a business but there are a few other factors at work.I'm so bored of people complaining about Fox and other networks.

This pretty much destroyed any interest i had in DollHouse, and i didn't have that much to begin with. No insight into what the show is about, who the characters are. Just, hey look, a hot girl, please watch. Lame. And linking it to the Sarah Connor Chronicles, does not help matters, since i hate that show. I'm still waiting for the trailer, that will make me want to watch this show.

Since a lot of us here are firefly fans, we saw how disastrously that went and so FOX in our mind made a mistake. ...One of most expensive 2hr pilots for a TV show ever made and they never even aired it. They played episodes out of order and failed to market the show properly. People joined in amidst the action for a 2nd pilot in the 'Train Job' and with a show like this (9 characters), getting the audience to understand the characters takes time and patience. The obvious comeback on FOX's defence is that Joss should write tighter scripts or less 'epic' storytelling. Yet somehow other networks manage to realize how this kind of storytelling works (Battlestar galactica for example). Firefly by its nature is a 'big' show, and it was canceled because it didnt pull big enough numbers up to week 8 when they got 'worry signs' from above.
It just seems that some networks are perfectly willing to spend a lot of money in trying to find an instant hit where others strike a balance and have long running shows. Equally viable in the end, but great shows slip through more with the 1st method...ie...pissed off fans. It will obviously always be a numbers game, but you still have to market the show and give it a fair chance (in episode order) to see hows its ratings do.
I'm rambling due to lack of sleep ...last night i slept in a tent in N.Wales in -10C temps 🙁 later
