Doug had just finished a leisurely Earl Grey
and chicken and cranberry panini at Starbucks as he headed down the main stretch toward
the accountancy firm that employed him. He spotted Oz and hurriedly
crossed the road to admire a window display, but it was no good. When
he looked up, a certain diminutive but devastatingly attractive bass
guitarist stood alongside him:

"Doug, are you trying to avoid me?"

"Mate, last night, you were blitzed, so I don't expect- mffff!?"

At that point, Oz had leant upward, taken him in his arms and delivered a hot,
passionate and quite sober kiss in the middle of the sidewalk, which also involved much shoulder-
kneading and said:

"Wrong. Sober now. You needed it. I needed it. I wanted it, as much
as I want you to share my life."
"This is one of those laconic yet pithy Oz conversations that Willow
warned me about, isn't it?" Doug asked, as he realised that last
night hadn't been just his own personal wish-fulfillment fantasy.
"Sounds like it. Look, Doug. Quite frankly, 'phobes have always
struck me as assholes, anyway. No-one tells me who to fall in love
with. You need someone in your life, admit it."
"Yes. I know I come across like Action Man's gay twin brother, sometimes, but my life has been full of one-night stands and gay friends with benefits, but never that one
special man." Doug admitted to the other man.
"And I promise, you are definitely not on the rebound or second best after Willow. She'll always
be a special friend given what we used to share, but I'm falling for you. Fast. You're musically literate, you aren't an zombie Republican and you didn't freak out about the wolfside."
"Why should I? Werewolves are beautiful creatures."

For that, Oz kissed Doug, again. And this time, Doug returned the kiss, long and passionately, as his arms clasped Oz's shoulders and he leant into the embrace. After they surfaced the second time, Doug whispered:
"Sweet Gaia. Danny, are you sure-"
"I'm a small and perfectly formed gay man now. And I want the world to know."
"Can we talk, after Sunnydale patrol tonight?"
"I want more than kisses." Oz said as their heads met, and Doug couldn't believe this was happening.
"Same here. 'Kinell, now you've got me doin' the laconic bit, Danny. Look, I've got to head off to work. Before that, could I have a third...mmmmm..." Oz obliged him and this time, lifted Doug off his feet. Finally, they broke
off reluctantly.

As Doug headed off, glowing, in the general direction of the
accountancy firm that employed him, a familiar figure surprised the
stocky redhead. Willow was standing at the Subway window nearby:
"Oz!? Did I just see what I thought I saw? You?! And the Dougster?!"

Willow had an anticipatory, thrilled look on her face, as Oz winked at
her:
"You spoiled me for women, Willow, so I decided to turn gay in response." "Well, that seems fair. After all, you were the best experience I could have
with a guy. After that, lesbianism was inevitable. C'mere, Osborne. Hey, Mr Bassman. I am *so* happy for you and the big strong Kiwi lug! I was hoping that you'd both find someone, although I wasn't expecting both of you would end up with each other, but this is so cool!" Willow embraced her former boyfriend, who smiled:
"Looks like we both lucked out, Rosenberg. Okay, Doug and I haven't
consummated it yet, but I sure as hell want to. Ever heard of love at
first sight? Well, okay, second sight, Lyco self-mastery Sioux vision
thingy, but..."
"This is so romantic, Oz. You boys have to come round and Tara and I
will help you celebrate!" Willow broke the embrace and winked at him, before she headed off to
university. Oz laughed to himself, punched the air above him, then perceptibly skipped as he headed back to his own apartment, and preparations for the day's musical tutoring activities. Bring on the evening, he thought to himself contentedly.
