The frost this morning killed a bit. Im glad I didnt trim my hedges before it hit! The grass was frozen.
I separated some dill seedlings into little pots as it was getting crowded. Im not sure how it will go because it was probably happy in a crowd with this weather. All of the bean babies have been eaten by slugs. Brussel sprouts have faired better in the war on bugs.
Weeding is delightful in this weather! Everything rips up so easy. And the soil looks so lovely and moist. I was trying to transplant mint to get it really going ready for spring and someone told me it goes dormant over winter. I thought it was dormant in summer cos I couldn't grow it! Maybe it was just dead.
I need to prune the grape vine next. That is the next thing that needs doing very soon.

Getting some free topsoil tomorrow, no idea how much there is, but any is good to me. I can figure out where its going after its delivered, because they're even going to bring it to the plot for me! *does the dance of joy*
I have been in a chopping mood. Chopped lots of things, but not the grape vine 🙄 now I am not so sure what to do with the chopped bits, I need a wood chipper! And there is still more to do but Im happy with what i have done.
Trimmed that mandarin tree back finally ha. Picked 3 limes last night for guacamole and was pretty happy there are so many on there considering I just sent a bag full home with mum.
Its the last sunny day before more rain. I should do some whippersnipping of the weeds along the highway side.

I have a better idea of what I want to do at the allotment now, so next day off I'm going to mark out sections, so I can focus on getting rid of the weeds in the section that's going to be used next.
Part of me wants to hire a rotavator but I think that will not work to get rid of the weeds it'll just chop them up amd spread then around, so digging it is.
I'm going to grab a couple of free pallets and take apart, to help me keep the sections easier.

Nothing has eaten my brussel sprouts! But they haven't grown much either. Maybe they were root bound being so cheap. I'll give them more time. Everything else is waterlogged and all I can be bothered doing is chopping.
My blueberries are now turning to ripen, for the first year there's quite a few on each bush. I pulled up a carrot yesterday too, still small but was tasty. I'll leave them a few more weeks before taking any more up.

I've now got a patio area almost ready for a shed to go on, except for the compost bin that's in the way, I could fit a shed the other way around but it wouldn't be very practical.

Whippersnipping season has begun again! I probably did a quarter acre of it today. I also trimmed the internal hedges but not the front yet. That magpie was out, haunting me from the powerlines. I brought in as much of the dry sticks as I could for today to burn up tonight. The rain is supposed to hit us tomorrow so everyone was outside trying to get all their gardening done.
That frost really damaged a lot of plants. I am not sure if any along the front are going to come back. If not, no worries, less work for me haha. They were all not doing well with how dry it has been anyway.

Need to get picking the lettuces, the one type has bolted and I can see that it might flower soon or seed whichever it does!

I have lost most of my small bushes in that frost. I really need a woodchipper to crush it all down! I have an empty wheely bin which i guess i could start chopping bits into to cart to the compost pile. Wheelbarrow would mean too many trips!

Well, I attempted to grow a garden this year, planted my usual crops, Okra, Squash, Zucchini, Peppers, and Tomatoes.
Unfortunately the local squirrel population (our neighborhood is having a pretty significant outbreak of them this year) had other plans. They decimated all of the seeds I planted before they got a half inch tall. All that's left are four out of the five tomato plants. Apparently white tomatoes are a hit with squirrels as they took out that particular plant, but they aren't into every other variety that I planted, luckily. So I'll remember that for the future. 😂
Anyways, I'm babying the heck out of the remaining four plants, and so far there are tons of fruit on the plants. Fingers crossed I will at least get a harvest of toms this year.

Just had a bacon and tomato sandwich using tomatoes from our garden out back. Excellent. Our Border Collie is a big fan of tomatoes, so he got some too.

BLT's are the best! There is nothing like a homegrown tomato. The tomatoes in the stores here taste nothing like a real tomato, the texture of them is weird too. Lucky pup!
I've got a handful of tomatoes growing, and thankfully it looks like I'm coming to the end of the courgettes. Although still have 4 to use up. I spotted my first French bean yesterday, so I'll have loads of those soon.
I need to clear the freezer out to make room!
I got two roses for my birthday, and one is another climbing one, so now I have to buy something for it to climb!

I don't have a scarecrow, and I don't think anyone on my site does. I've seen some great ones on Instagram though.
I bought some alluim bulbs from the supermarket, so I'll plant those in my flower bed section. In theory it'll be all pinks and purples with lots of bee friendly plants. I've planted one of the birthday roses and sorta decided what to do with the one.

You are all probably growing fresh strawberries now its summer.
One of my classmates ate a strawberry off the ground because she was dared to and every time I see a strawberry I think that day. It wasn't even her strawberry that she dropped, just a random one on the floor. Ew!
