First thing is that a long time member uses that pic/avatar you're using so unless he pops in (which I'm sure he will) and says he was thinking of changing his anyway you might want to find another one to keep from confusing people (we had a thread on it, these avatars really do make a difference and people often recognize a person by them than the name, one reason I stick with my permanent one). 'Course the perfect one to go with "Grr Argg" seems so obvious, and I don't think anyone else has it (at least not anyone who has posted in awhile). It would be cute for you to be that drawn monster.
I think sharing what you did is fine, but if you want to be "formal" about it and know what to share then click on your name (should be at the top of the screen, above your right hand, with your avatar pic on it) and one of the choices from there (after you click your name) is Your Profile, which you can then add info about yourself in About.
Opinionated members are generally welcome here, as long as opinions are about the show and not about people who have a different view. That is, don't take a difference of opinion as a personal attack and you should enjoy your time here. (Even so, as a rule of thumb, anything involving Spuffy or Angel, especially if those two are both in the thread title, should be considered a mine field, and anything that is overtly political. Many are happier avoiding them, politics or shipping, and others wish they had the willpower to.)
That aside...I'm 36, I do love history (and also alternate history, as in parallel worlds and what could've been--btw, I'm glad the watered down way most schools teach history didn't turn you off of it, it's interesting when the whole story is being told, and the realization comes that history becomes the Now of our existence), and I'm also here to avoid irritating most people I know around me by talking about this show. Hiking in nature, especially lonely beaches and off the beaten path, is one of many things I like, and I climbed a lot of trees when I was your age and younger. I am female, even if I seem a bit too athletic and assertive (I know that violates a stereotype, save maybe the opposite stereotype where a woman is always throwing a fit which also doesn't fit me, but there are so many friggin exceptions of all ages out there that I don't know why it keeps being surprising). I have a (female) partner and her son just turned 17 this month. He likes Buffy and Angel as well but it's been a few years since he saw either that I'm aware of.
I'm also unusual of men and women both by not being a shipper. The romances were alright at times, but the romance drama was more likely to irritate me than draw me in (but sometimes it was done right, and I'm a HUGE fan of the Angelus arc, and not because I think it's so romantic and sexy when a guy watches you sleep and tells you about it later). I try not to be so blunt about shipping as I used to be as people could get offended real easy that way when that wasn't my intent, though I won't (always) keep my mouth shut either. I'm fascinated by shipping, though, and try to figure it out (Buffy and otherwise).
Also, as this post shows, my posts tend to be long. I know some read them and that's enough. I know not everyone has the time (or attention span) for it, but it's another sign on how much I think about things, try to figure them out, and all that, including with Buffy and Angel (which some would call an obsession).
