Guessed Wes?

Okay, before the Angel finale, there was a huge thing on the commercials about "one of [Angel's] own" not making it through the final episode.

This went on for a couple weeks, so who guessed it would be Wesley? Who else did you think wouldn't make it through that would (or vice versa, thought would but wouldn't)? ???

I had narrowed it down to Wes, although I'll admit I was suspicious of Gunn as well. Figured Lorne- too well loved, Angel- main character, Spike-died in btvs finale, Illyria- just killed Fred... that pretty much left Gunn, that I could think of. I don't know, I couldn't see Gunn having the same effect if he died than Wes, somehow. Guess it could have been Connor, but that seems a bit pointless given that his character is now a fairly "normal" kid, and they couldn't do a follow up to see Angel's reaction.

I never saw the ad's i'm afraid so i just never guessed that they would die
so Wes's death came as a very big surprise for me!

If it was going to be a 'big' character, this is who I would have guessed. Just because it's so Joss to kill a character, bring him back in another show to many viewer's relief, and then kill him again. lol And of course killing Wes was a 'big' death for sure..considering he was in both shows.

I thought it may be someone like Lorne or Gunn.

Well I dont think we got the ads over here, and if we did I didnt see them lol, but I had read on the internet about a death of a character. (Damn me and my inability to not read spoilers! I spoilt Joyces death as well!)

I actually remember reading on a fan site that it had been confirmed that Gunn was going to die! What apile of crap that turned out to be. Like you said Angelic SLayer, there wasnt really that many characters left that could be killed that would shock us! Although I always thought that in the final episode Angel was gonna die and Spike was somehow going to fulfill the Shansu prophecy, as I thought it would've been cool if Angel actually lost. Because Buffy seemed to always win, and if she dies she was brought back, with angel i thought they'd try and go out with a different message. It was in fact the fight never ends or something to that effect.

Wow I babble when I'm meant to be revising!!!!!!! Film and english exams tommorrow!!!!!!!!

I was so glad I didn't look up spoilers for this episode!! I went away to France the day before it aired and asked two people to tape it for me(For insurance) and both forgot!! So I didn't see the finale of Angel for almost 8 months after it aired! I could not find a repeat anywhere, So I kept coming into contact with spoilers so I kept skipping over them, I also skipped an entire article in the Buffy Magazine because it was about the finale, It was sitting in my drawers for like 4 months and I didn't look, I was so proud of myself 🙂

But when I saw it I was absolutely shocked when that knife slid into Wesley, I actually gasped, I couldn't believe it - I have never been so glad I never looked up spoilers ad I was that time!!

I never saw these ads but I do remember that they did the same thing for the episode Calvary. In the previews for that ep, they said that someone was going to die. I started panicking because I knew that Charisma was pregnant and that she was the most likely to be killed off. What a big shock it was when I saw Cordy killing Lilah. That's my favorite scene in the Buffyverse now.

i didn't see the spoilers either...i didn't skip over any articles, like BEG, but for some reason, i just never heard the news that it would be Wes who would die. i think i read somewhere that someone would die in the ep, but i think i thought it was Gunn...i can't remember. Wes's death scene is still one of my fave moments of the series...when Illyria says 'Would you like me to lie to you now?' i always start to cry. that one line is so powerful for me, telling us that Wes is now willing to accept a lie...

I never saw the ads, but I still guessed that somebody would die. I mean, there is always some kind of death in the final episode of a show right? Wes's death was so incredibly sad. :frown_blu It was such a shock too!

I honestly thought it would be Angel, because I just don't see how they could end a series like that without killing him..turns out they took the crappy route and left us confused and angry...good job Joss.

I only saw the "one of our own" thing during the finale.
And I didn't want to think about it... more shock value when it happened. (To me anyways)

I was told. I spent months and months avoiding any potential spoilers. I didnt want to know anything. Then I was talking to my mum on the phone one day and she said something along the lines of "so how do you feel about Wesley dying at the end of Angel?" then there was silence then "I wasnt supposed to say that, was I?"

The thing is, I didnt even notice what she said til she admitted her mistake.

I was not pleased!

I didn't see the spoilers, but my first guess would've been Gunn (Remember what Rona said in Buffy about the black chick always getting it first? Same often applies to the black guy.)

Always thought it'd be Wes, i remember the ad had a scene of the four (Angel, Spike, Gunn and Illyria) in the alley. Wesley wasn't there so I pretty much thought that gave it away for me.. And also, his character had been explored to the point of no other option but to kill him.. Angel is the main character, so nah I didn't think so. Although Lorne wasn't in the alley either, I never thought he'd die, didn't think it'd have the same effect on the fans. I never thought Spike - he was too popular, and there was talk of a spin-off, were they gonna like bring him back.. AGAIN? Illyria was the brand new demon girl so i never thought it'd be her. Gunn was too tuff to die i thought..

Wesely dying was a HUGE slap in the face. I was NOT expecting that. I actually had the biting feeling that Gunn would die but both Fred and Wesely was incredibly suprising!

I never saw the Ads either so it was a big shock when Wes died.

I'm still in denial. 😛 I didn't read any spoilers or download the episodes from America. He's not really dead! 🙁
