From Core 77:

People cannot agree on gun control laws in America, but one point is not in doubt: Gun sales are on the rise. Following mass shootings, of which we have plenty, firearm manufacturers and retailers confirm that sales increase.

Which begs the question: Is there an attendant increase in the sales of firearm-storing furniture? When we looked at the stuff last year, it certainly seemed to be booming, and these days it doesn't show any signs of slowing down.

Absent the politics, the furniture itself is fascinating as it poses a unique storage design challenge: End users want the furniture to visually conceal their goods, yet they want lightning-quick access to it. This often means that end users are seeking to integrate gun storage into some very central pieces of furniture—like dining tables:

Or coffee tables:

Or buffets:

Or the couch:

Others feel the bed is the best place for them:

For still others, the bathroom (this has got to be a joke):

Or tucked away in dummy ceiling vents:

In short, it seems these designers have collectively sought out every square inch of dead space and turned it into usable storage.

Jesus, this is some James Bond shit!

If you own a gun, in my opinion it should be properly locked away to prevent people, especially children, to get their hands on it and accidentally shoot someone. Some of these guns are just plain scary, why would you need that anyway (might be the Canadian in me that doesn't understand, the only fun I see here are hunting rifles).

Now excuse me while I exit this thread before the gun control debate starts.

Imagine using a friends restroom and seeing the tp on the barrel of a gun. 😵😱

I agree with Blaze, some of these designs are very James Bond...although not quite as sleek as something I'd picture in Bonds home or hotel rooms.

And just think, in a hundred years time one of these can be on the Antiques Roadshow.
Some stuffy old person would be saying 'well, this bespoke early 21st century cabinet has a lovely little hidden nook for you Mossbergs...'

That gun bed, is like, the biggest turn off ever.

You don't find my big guns attractive? lol

lol, had the same thought
Quite a few of my friends have regular gun safes, like I do, but I've never seen anything like all this gun furniture. I'm sure that most people have some sort space that could easily be used as a secret panel or compartment somewhere in their home if they chose to do so.

I'm curious, though. Would this be as distasteful or comical a topic as it obviously is for some here, if those same storage areas were used to conceal other valuables, such as jewelry, electronics, or important personal papers, or is it just because it's guns being hidden? Is it okay to want to keep my mother's jewelry safe, but not the old Remington 22 that my father taught me to shoot with? Neither one amounts to any great monetary value, certainly far less than it would cost to insure them, but both are irreplaceable treasures to me, and if it meant buying one of those things in order to keep them safe, I wouldn't hesitate to do it.

I went the comical route only in hopes of preventing yet another gun debate as those have gotten messy in the past. :)

Regular gun safes in my opinion, are the way to go, just for safety reason. The different between guns and jewelry is simple. A gun can kill someone (and I'm just talking of simple accidents here, not purposely killing someone). I've just heard so many stories of kids, or even adults, handling a gun and killing someone because it was not properly stored. In those pictures, some of the guns are stored with bullets. It's just a safety thing in my opinion.

Stolen guns are the #1 cause of all gun related crime and shootings. Accidental shootings pale in comparison.

I completely agree. I've ridden this gun control pony around this track so many times lately that I'm plumb saddle sore

I'm not positive, but it looks like some of the pictures are of places to keep loaded guns for the purpose quite reasonable, in my opinion, of home security or self defense, rather than just concealment. If that is the case, then storing the gun loaded, or with ammunition available, would make sense, and, as a safety issue, such an arrangement would be much less apt to result in accidental discharge than keeping a loaded gun in a drawer or closet, while still having it available if it ever were needed.

We'll have to agree to disagree :) I don't want to start a gun debate

Actually gun safes are more dangerous. According to the FBI gun safes top the list of things stolen in home robberies, with jewelry being second. Because most people only have personal gun safes, once their located it can easily be stolen. Hiding the gun in furniture and places burglars would not suspect to look can actually prevent guns from falling into the wrong hands.

Wasn't really talking about guns being stolen, more guns falling into the hands of a kid, or a wife, or a husband, and an accident happening. Gun burglary is a whole other issue in itself
I feel like you have to be just a tad paranoid to have stuff like this ha...although I shouldn't really be talking because part of me *really* wants a secret room in my house to run and hide in...in case someone breaks in :O

If the safe is properly installed, it can't be moved, let alone stolen. The ones that most often get stolen are the small single or double handgun security boxes, somewhere between the size of a shoe box and a brief case, that can simply be taken away and broken into later. Those aren't safes in the true sense of the meaning, they're just cases intended to keep unauthorized people, like kids, from handling potentially dangerous firearms, while still having them available to the owner in case of emergencies (alien invasion, zombie apocalypses, global insurrection, pandemic, etc.) Some people actually carry them along when they travel, so, obviously, they aren't securely anchored to anything.

Nothing is totally secure. The best that can be hoped for is that you make it too inconvenient for a thief to waste his time with.

Some of these were very clever!

Personally, I liked the first one, the table. Pretty basic I guess but that one stood out to me.
