Gunn and Buffy

Gunn/Buffy would've been wonderful.

He would understand her protectiveness of her little sister, Dawn, since he had a little sister, Alonna.

He hunted vampires in LA since he was a teenager. Buffy was called as the Slayer in LA when she was a teenager.

How did Buffy never run into Gunn's crew when she lived in LA? She even spent the summer there after moving and it looked like she upped her kill count to combat her PTSD.

She patrols everywhere; alleys, sewers, cemeteries, parks, abandoned buildings, residential neighborhoods. But somehow missed a group of humans with a truck doing the same thing.

I wonder if Gunn ever ate at Hellen's Kitchen when Buffy was a waitress.

I can see Buffy telling Gunn about being framed for Kendra's murder (committed by a vampire), expelled from two high schools, and kicked out of her home.

There was a whole episode of BtVS about homeless youth in LA who get targeted by demons. Angel's whole speech to Doyle in In the Dark was to be there for those kind of people that slip through the cracks and aren't missed or remembered.

But isn't Gunn just the better Xander? Is that why you're shipping them or is there some emotional connection possibility I'm not seeing?

Lol maybe. Xander and Dawn have been through a lot, and some of it really not fun. Gunn always seems a more mature character than Xander and somehow sweeter natured. I think compared to Xander, he'd be better for Dawn in the long run. He's been through a lot himself, but he doesn't seem as damaged as Xander.
