Gunn and Forest

I was watching an episode from Season 4 of Buffy yesterday and got to wondering if a young Charles Gunn (before midway through season 2) and Forest would have gotten along at all. I don't know why I thought of this but they were both sort of alike. Forest was in the Military and Gunn was running his crew. They both had similar views on demons (kill them all).

Any thoughts on this???
 
hmm, i can see your point, and i do agree.
i can totally see forrest as part of gunn's crew...
and i can see gunn as part of the inititive.
however, what would have happened to their friendship after adam turned forrest into a demon??

I'm not so sure. I think that Forrest was a little bit.... stiff.... to get along with Gunn. Forrest always came off as if he had a large telephone pole stuck right up you know where....

I don't think that they would've really meshed well together. Gunn was kind of a 'relaxed' (as in not so rigid and militaristic), Forrest was completely opposite.
 
but don't you think forrest would have loosened up more if he had a friend like gunn? instead of someone like riley or graham?
 
The only thing they had in common were that they were black and fought demons other than that...nada

I can't begin to see Gunn in the initiative. Never. Gunn may have been thought of as mindless muscle but he did have a backbone, courage, and his own style. I can't see him being mandated what to eat, when to wake up, and following orders were never his style unless the person who gave them was someone whom he respected. I don't see Maggie Walsh being one of those people.

Forrest is rigid and likes orders and follows them well. He rejects people who try to march to their own tune and he isn't a fan of disorder, mayhem. He seems faithless in the mission as compared to Gunn.

I dunno what everyone else is seeing. These characters were highly different. Almost as different as Faith and Buffy.

Good Points Prophecy Girl. I didn't mean any racism thing by this post. I just simply meant that they both didn't get the grey areas of the series. What I mean is that they didn't understand that there could be "good or innocent" demons. At least this is true of an early Charles Gunn.
 
it took gunn a while to figure out that angel was the good guy, and he didn't trust lorne or spike straight away either. eventually he found those grey areas because he fought along side angel.
forrest couldn't see the grey areas when he was in the army because he was taught what to think, when to eat, how to act: demons=bad. people=good.
if forrest had been part of gun's crew, maybe he still wouldn't have seen the grey, but he would have been more willing to explore them.
we know that almost all of gunn's crew turned on him when he joined angel's team, but who knows what forrest would have done? he did, afterall, live to follow orders. from maggie and adam.

In regard to those "gray areas", that was true of all of the human characters and not just Charles Gunn - with the exception of Fred Burkle, due to her five years in Pylea. But, she did harbor a black-vs-white view of morality. She tended to polarize others' personalities.
