Does anyone else agree with me that Gwen was actually a really great character, that was underrated?

I mean, I go to BuffyWorld forums, and so many fans are saying how much they despised Gwen! I thought that she was one of the most fun, sassy, and sexiest characters from the Buffyverse! She was just so original, well not original by talking in the entire supernatural genre, but in the Buffyverse, did you honestly ever see someone like her, you know? Born with a power, that they didn't chose to have (besides Dawn, that's a different story).

Alexa played a great job as Gwen, and I think that she and Angel could have been able to be great together. And then she could make him happy, without the curse being lifted. Remember in Ground State when she made him alive? Well therefore he wasn't actually a vampire since vampires are dead, and so then he was momentarily "human", and they could've just been happy (don't know if that would totally work, but a guy can hope, can't he?).

I seriously love Gwen as one of my top 10 characters ever on Buffy and Angel, she is just a great character, with a great background. And I wish she had made an appearance or two in the fifth season of Angel, or even on the seventh season of Buffy, it would've been interesting to see her again. I guess I'll just have to live with those three episodes on DVD, which are absolutely some of my all time favorite Angel episodes (Ground State, Long Day's Journey, Players)!

Got to agree with you....
Gwen was a Great Character. I loved her. She was so great. And So driffnet from all the outher characters on the show.

I LOVE Gwen! She is most definitely one of my faves! Her story always reminded me of Rogue's from X-Men and she was, of course my favorite X-men so I got a jump start to liking her 😀 Alexa is an awesome actress too-she was great in The Chronicles of Riddick.

I love Gwen too! She had such an attitude that differed so much from the Fang Gang. She contrasted them so well. I do prefer her with Gunn though. Everyone already knows who I think Angel belongs with 🙂

Completely agree. Underrated AND underused! I just saw her episodes for the first time, and I can't believe they don't keep her around!! She's so interesting, and fun, and I actually liked her and Gunn together a lot. Really, 3 episodes is just a tease.

I was hoping that she'd return in season five, but she didn't. I loved her, and she was really underrated. She was actually in the first Angel episode I ever saw, I haven't been a fan for too long. (Although the way I quote all the time makes people think otherwise.) I liked the tension between her and Cordelia. Just the way she spoke was great.

When I first heard of Gwen I thought she was an important character on Angel. So when I started watched I waited and waited for her to show up.. When she finally does, she is in three episodes, I was really disappointed. Because yeah, I agree, she is a great character. I liked her a lot. I wouldn't have wanted her with Angel though, I actually prefered her with Gunn (anything to keep Gunn away from Fred so that she can be with Wesley.. well, that's another topic). But anyway, she was an interesting character, kinda sad story, with the loneliness and not being able to tuch people.

Didn't love Gwen, didn't hate Gwen. I think if she'd been given more screen-time, I might have really grown to enjoy her as a character. I did like her though.

I agree with Buffy Summers, I'd MUCH rather have had Gwen back than that Nina chick..ugh she was just WRONG.

I really liked Gwen. She definately was under used. Some of the plot lines were a little pointless, or not played out properly. Like the kiss she has with Angel after she restarts his heart. And she had potential for some of the bigger storylines as well.

I never understood that kiss and they never really went into it...the only determination I could make was that Angel was just a kiss ho :D
You know, I just happened to have watched the Gwen episodes again. I have to agree she was very compelling, Gorgeous of course, which was good. And she was from my home state, Wisconsin (although those hills in the background when she's a little girl look like the same ones they use in Little House on the Prairie and M*A*S*H. Definitely not Wisconsin). She was very smart and tough but fundamentally good-hearted. Would have filled the Lilah void for season 5 better than that whatever girl at Wolfram&Hart, can't even remember the character's name. Eve?

Anyways, great. I just wish they gave some kind of supernatural explanation for her powers. It was too x-men/mutant. It disturbed the complete supernatural scheme of things in Angel.

I actually kind of liked the fact that you don't know why she's got her powers. Made it more.. "natural"? Lol, in some way. I have only seen the Gwen-episodes once but the more I think about her the more I like her..

Yeah, I guess that's my analytical brain coming out again. Must have answers! What is a buffyverse soul? What is an ensouled Spike? Sometimes a little left unsaid can be a good thing I guess.

Well, I agree with you.. about wanting the answers.. I just kinda liked this one thing to be untold.. I'm not sure why.. maybe that just made me like her character more..
she definentley got less credit than she deserved! i also would've liked to see her return in season 5. they could've gotten much more involved in the story. if she got her powers back, maybe she could've even help them fight evil. i read a fanfiction of season six where she came back as a main charatcer, and it was very good. they could've done mroe with her than they did.

Gwen was definitely a great character, but I don't really think she was underrated. I mean, she was only in three episodes. I wish she had been in more, but, alas, she wasn't.

I always thought it kinda odd that they made such a big deal of the character, only to write her out so quick. What was the deal with that?

Well, you know there are several vacancies in Angel's crew, what with them all being dead and all, so maybe she'll be a regular, or at least a frequent guest. Angel could have her, Connor, maybe Oz (he and Nina would make an interesting couple), and they could bring Wood over as the research hound to replace Wes. Of course, we all KNOW that Lorne's gonna be back.

You might have noticed that I left Illyria and Spike out completely. How's this for a story arc? (And Joss, if you're out there reading this, I give you full permission to use it) Spike and Illyria show up in Scotland to help the Slayers. Buffy, of course, jumps Spike like a starving wolf on a pork chop. There's an enrage roar of "Get away from my pet!" and Slayer and hell god become a tangle of arms, legs, claws, and teeth. Willow hears all the commotion and runs out to seperate the two fighting females.

"Be separated!" she commands, waving her arms magically. Of course her spell goes wrong. Instead of Slayer and hell gof separating, the personalities of Fred and Illyria are. (to be continued)

Gwen will make her reapperance in Angel: After the fall. Brian Lynch confirmed this over on the IDW boards.

^ Love your scenario White Avenger! if only.....

Got to agree she was an amazing character, would have loved to have seem some Gewn/faith interaction, just think that would have been cool, one of those they'll either hate or love each other. Gwen was very cool and one of the sexiest characters on either show. What more can i say shes flumptastic!!!!!

She was okay, but why is there a Gwen forum and no Oz forum? ^_^ hehe, i guess her eps were pretty cool though ^.^
