Had Ben not been Glory's other half

If Ben had not been Glory's other half and just been a normal character plot for the season, could Ben/Buffy work as a couple?

I could never see Ben and Buffy as a couple. They might have gone out a couple of times before realizing it, but, while I tend to disagree with Spike about Buffy needing a little monster in her man, she DOES need a little monster FIGHTER in her man, and I just can't see Ben in that sort of role. Maybe it's because I always saw Ben as the exact opposite of Glory, at least until towards the end, when the two seemed to begin blending or merging into a single entity. Or maybe I just never saw Ben as anything except the place where Glory hid when she wasn't out hunting for the Key. For whatever reason, I just can't see Ben and Buffy as ever making it beyond the second or third date.

Of course, the irony is, even when Ben was Glory's secret identity, Giles would have seen him as the perfect match for her, right up to the time that they found out the truth.

Yeah...maybe. He was normal (well, in this scenario) and nice, and a potential doctor 😉 haha but I could see Joss killing him right when they'd start to get serious. The psych ward would blow up, or blind, armless, monks would kidnap Ben and erase his memory. I could also see their relationship getting boring, fast. He wasn't that interesting of a character. Glory was the only interesting thing about him.

Poor guy.

Had he secretly been a rogue demon hunter, perhaps I could see them together. As evidenced by Owen, it's really hard to keep such a huge part of her life so secret. She needs someone with some knowledge of the occult happenings of Sunnydale, y'know? Not necessarily "some monster in her man" but some monster know-how.

As much as I liked Ben, and as cute as I thought he and Buffy were, I don't think they would have lasted. I think he would have ended up being another Riley in her life.

No. I liked Ben first. But then he cheated on Dawn and that's when I started to hate him. He and Buffy as couple would have been as if Buffy and this guy in season 4 who cheated on her would have been together. ( Arhhh I forgot his name). Ben had to less character and informations to become an important role in BTVS.

No they are awful together even Riley is better than Ben and I hate Riley.

I think Ben is a coward, he wanted to sacrifice a 14 year old girl, I can't tell you how glad I am about Ripper killing him/Glory.
