Halloween 2015

Normally I hide away from the fun and just stick on some horror flicks etc... That is partly because I don't normally have people to hang out with and also I find finding something to dress up as a bit of a pain, but I know that my housemates are planning to go out so I think I might go for awhile at least.
 
Every year on Halloween, we have this thing in my town called 'pub-night', where there are bands playing at every bar, and many of the bars are decorated with Halloween stuff. Many people are wearing costumes as well. Afterwards, my and my friends are gonna go to a Halloween party at this shitty club. It's usually pretty fun, though, because I get to see a lot of old friends that I don't normally see anymore.
 
Halloween is getting bigger and bigger here... which make me more and more desperate to avoid it.

Any holliday that involves costumes, dressing up and annoying kids that demands candy will be at the top of my most hated list.
I approve on the watching horror flicks thing. But I don't need a special holliday to do that.

I used to go out drinking and clubbing etc for Halloween when I was younger. Like 18-23ish. It lost its appeal pretty quickly. The one time me and my friend really put some thought into our outfits, I went as Marilyn Monroe with long gold gloves and a cigarette holder etc al, and my friend went as a genie, sparkly outfit with lots of rhinestones and a big orange frizzy wig - anyway - everyone thought we'd dressed up as Patsy and Eddie from Absolutely Fabulous. 🙁 (I don't know what that says about our drinking).

My sister and I went to organised Halloween parties as kids and also went Trick or Treating with our friends from the neighbourhood. (Our favourite door to knock were the lovely Indian family who would give us pakora instead of sweets!).

The past few years I've pretty much completely ignored it and watched some scary films at home. Although living in the city centre has its benefits. Last year I watched Lady Gaga throw up for ten solid minutes outside the bar across the street from my flat. Yay, Halloween!

Halloween is my favorite. My sister is having a Halloween party during the day and then in the evening I'll be handing out candy bars to all the trick or treaters. I'll probably try and squeeze in a scary movie too.

My house of decorated, my sisters place is decorated, pumpkins will be carved in a few days, party food is yet to be planned (oops, that's my job this year!), costume is TBD.
 
Usually I go to a special Halloween Ball, last year that was a three-day trip on a boat though and I didn't want to set aside three whole days for just partying (and OMG! I have gotten old. That used to be what I lived for!) so I just dressed up and watched movies with friends instead. I always do something with my brother as well, i.e. carve pumpkins, visit the cemetary and watch scary movies, but the specific date of this tends to vary 🙂 This year I'm torn between going to the aforementioned ball, only a one evening thing again, or staying at home and watching movies...
 
We used to have great house parties at my place for Halloween. Everyone would dress up and then we'd all get smashed and have a great time. One year we ended up at a park seeing how many of us could fit on a zip line. I think we managed 6. One year my brother and a mate went out dressed as Batman and Robin to look for crime. Ended up calling an ambulance for a drunk man. They had to talk the paramedic out of the ambulance as she thought they were taking the piss. Unfortunately people started falling out and moving away so the parties became rubbish and we don't do them anymore.

I'll be round my uncles for a gathering the night before Halloween. Not sure about the actual day. There's a gig I'd like to go to but I don't think my girlfriend would be impressed if I left her alone.

It's shit when people start falling out within a group of friends :( I guess it's all part of growing up though.
I adore Halloween. 😀 Love making Halloween decs.

Every year I put a very small display of stuff outside and the neighbors kids come round trick or treating. All very good natured, but sadly this is my last year where I live and where I'm moving to is going to is a bit rougher so I'm expecting all that sort of thing will stop unfortunately. 🙁

Oh no! :( that's a shame.
I love Halloween! Unfortunately I've been pulling some ungodly hours at work and I'm not sure how much time I will have to actually do anything.
 
We're having something called "Trunk Or Treat" in our church parking lot. The Youth Group will decorate all of the participating members' automobile trunks (that's "boots' to you folks on the other side of the pond) we supply the candy, and the church kids, and anyone else so inclined, can go around and collect enough sweets to be on a sugar high from then til Thanksgiving.
 
I've got to work even though it's my bfs birthday.
Think I'm going to wear some dark lipstick and a skull necklace in honour of the holiday
 
Other than Valentine's day, Halloween is my favorite. I've done 2 haunted houses this year. I have a big goth costume party friday, than I'm seeing velvet acid Christ on Saturday. Wearing skull face paint and going as the grim reaper, kinda

Growing up, I loved having Valentine's day as an excuse for surprising girls I liked with gifts, sweets, etc. and going out with them somewhere and so on. A lover doesn't really require an excuse to do these things anyway any day he wishes (and can and should find excuses often) but it feels right that we should have a day set aside officially for the celebration of such things...even if the holiday originally had nothing to do with love or romance.
 
@AnthonyCordova You're a true romantic my friend!😉 I'm with you in spirit at least, just that doesn't the idea that you should be doing it anytime you feel like it deflect from the idea of having a set day to it? If the act is supposed to be random, then having a set day takes aways from that, but then I guess I could say that about any holiday,so I just buggered my own point!😱
 
I normally hide at Halloween because the constant door ringing does my head in. But....this year.... I am joining in for the sake of my Abbs. She normally goes to her cousins house for halloween party and trick or treating but not this year :/ so I have to step up for her sake.

That sounds like fun. I thought churches tended not to approve of Halloween celebrations though. Has this changed recently or does it vary a lot from place to place?

They get around the "Halloween" thing by calling it a "Fall Festival." The church invites the kids there for a "costume party", rather than having them go out into the neighborhoods.

Pretty much. One thing I do know that under this bloody government the rental market really is pricing out a lot of people who aren't bloody millionaires like Cameron.. 🙁

I will carry on decorating indoors though as I love to try and make stuff. Trouble is I'm running out of storage space. 😀
