Alright so my gf LOVES halloween. To the point that she's already decided what she wants to be this year.

Obviously as this is a buffy forum the costume is buffy related 😛 (go figure eh?)

Anyways so we've decided we're gonna attempt to pull off Spike and Dru.

Spike's fairly easy (my hardest friggin thing is tracking down a trenchcoat that AT LEAST resembles Spike's without costing $500 or something lol but hell if it was a good one that i'd wear i'd even pay that).

Anyways the issue with Dru is we've been trying to find a white dress (i'm sure you all know the one dru wore alot, mostly in S2). and i can't find ANYTHING that resembles it closely enough.

Anyways so any help of that nature (for a dru-like dress, or for a spike-like trench coat/duster) would be greatly appreciated lol.

I figure if we get everything together MONTHS in advance it'll give us plenty of time to really get the costumes pretty accurate. (and yes post halloween i'll throw up pics for all you good people if you so desire 😛).

Have you tried eBay?

Also, charity shops are good - and because it's so cheap if you see something you *think* might work but isn't quite right, because it only costs like £1 or so, you can just grab it anyway 🙂

I'm wary of ebay only because i'd like to try something on before i bought it (as from ordering online i've found sizes can vary and a 'large' from one place may not be a 'large' to me etc.) and i know my gf will want to try her dress on before she gets it to make sure it fits/looks good etc.

Next time i get a couple days off i'm gonna browse a few local 2nd hand/charity stores to see if I can find something suitable.

If you are at all crafty you can try making your costumes too. You can sometimes find fabric on sale for real cheap if you eye the craft stores and keep your eyes open for it. I made myself a really awesome costume about 2 years ago for about $10-15. I was the "victim". Also made my wedding dress, it turned out really great and only cost me $60 instead of $500+. I highly recommended customizing your costumes yourself; the dress especially would be a lot easier to make than find one that looks similar.

You move to Australia SOOOOOOOOO you don't celebrate the holiday and sneer at those who expect you to have treats hehe... that's what i got planned

MergedLoki,
to save some money, try getting an imitation leather coat like Spikes, then paint it with a thick black tyre paint, the effect is authentic.
Course, if you want to be really clever, you could go as Dru and your girlfriend could go as Spike.
There is one problem though, if you do go as Dru, where could you put the hot cross buns?

yea i dont think i'llpull the dru thing lol i'm much more suited to 'spike' 😛

i've spent the last 2 months looking around the net and in 2nd hand shops etc. for a leather trench at least SIMILAR to spikes (and/or a white dress similar to dru's for my gf as she isn't always with me when im shopping around).

again any help greatly appreciated.
