3. The only good Halloween film is the first one. Every Friday the 13th movie is bad, even though the Jason character is iconic and awesome.

This is a wildly unpopular opinion but I'm nominating the 90s.

I also love a lot of unpopular horror movies, such as Scream 3, Halloween Kills and the original IT.

Oh, and I think The Shining (and Jack Nicholson's performance in it) are overrated.

Yessss and I love when cinemas release older films so I can experience them that way!

5. If you had to erase a horror genre which would it be?

Rape Revenge. Wholly unnecessary.

I love campy slashers that are too serious for what they are supposed to be.

No. I prefer to be home, alone, in the dark. No interruptions.

Slapstick Horror. I hate over the top comedy horror films.

I think I agree unless the Scary Movie franchise belongs to that category because they're probably my favourite comedy films ever.

1. I don't think I have a top ten. I usually prefer supernatural horror, like The Woman in Black. I also seem to watch zombie films. I do not know why.

2. Probably depends. 80s was good for slasher movies. Even though some franchises I think started in the 70s.

3. Lots are icky rather than horrifying.

4. Yes, like any other film. Though I haven't been to the cinema in some time.

3. I like Halloween 3: Season Of The Witch. The original idea of Halloween was interesting but people wanted Halloween being centered on Michael Myers. 😓

Poltergeist, child's play, Wrong Turn original. Jeepers Creepers 1 and 2,the hills have eyes remake, Halloween original, IT, I know what you did last summer and scream.

90s/Early 2000's.

The IT miniseries is not bad and is scary.
Not unpopular for fans but for some directors: Tension, suspense and fear of the unknown can make a horror movie more scary and interesting than lots of gore.

I prefer watching horror films in the comfort of my home.

5. If you had to erase a horror genre which would it be?
Films that only rely on gore.

For those of us born in the late 80s, early 90s, living on the eastern side of the US, close to similar woods, it was quite a fright!

I think Blair Witch is really creepy, just the idea of being stuck and lost in the woods and no matter how far you walk you come back to the same place. On top of that there's a witch in the woods.

I can't be bothered with answering everything as my opinion changes all of the time. I can tell you the one thing I absolutely LOATHE and it's done with most modern horror films is when the sound gets really low and then that loud jumpscare sound! I hate it. People whispering and you can't hear what they say and then that damn noise that they use. It's an artificial jump scare brought on by sudden loud noise. If they didn't have that it would be hard for them to actually have jumpscares. Majority of modern horror movies straight up suck because of that jumpscare noise.

I find it is a problem to think of 10 films that are scary, some mentioned on this thread I found to be silly. The Blair Witch film is I regard it as being the worst film ever made, especially when a witches shouts are like the sound of a falling branch.
That comment by Skanky Vamp about whispering voices I thought was poorly thought out. One of the scariest places I visited was St. Nectan's Glen, Tintagel, Cornwall UK where several Catholic priest were put to death by the King of England's soldiers (Cavaliers) when I saw a burning skull high in a tree yet the tree did not burn, also there was the sound of a hundred people (guesstimate) whispering though I was the only person in the field.

The best decade for horror films has yet to happen.

An unpopular opinion might be about the silly vampire films, about vampires craving blood then allow it to spill all over their chin and down their top. Another crazy notion is the angle the vampires head would need to be to cause many of the bites.
Ever noticed about a werewolf's bite, the aftermath is shown but not the actual scary bit of the bite!

I hate seeing any type of film in the cinema as the smell of popcorn makes me want to throw-up.

Only those supposedly scary films made by idiot directors that have little commonsense.

Probably the 80's. There was a lot of creativity and horror spun off in new directions

Like @TamsinValencia said slowly building fear and tension to get your mind to play tricks on you is way more scary than repeated jump shocks and gore.
And Friday 13th is not scary

I prefer to watch slow burn tension filled horror at home, but things like Scream can be fun to watch in the cinema as a communal experience

Not a fan of torture horror although Audition and Martyrs (originals) did both have a big effect on me

Couldn't list ten. I tend to like the thriller types. Nope was great. Pitch Black, Wolf Creek, Midsommer, and that other one with the chick from Midsommer that I saw the other day was ok, although more of a domestic violence thriller in the end.

I go with the others and say the 90/00 too. Really just because they were our coming of age horror stuff.

Excessive Gore is stupid

Ohhhhh. I forgot about Human Centipede.. which, congrats to myself because how could I have ever forgotten that?! Somehow the second was worse.. and I never went beyond that. I blame college for making me see that.
