The team behind Saw 4-6 and Piranha 3DD is now poised to 'recalibrate' Michael Myers and Halloween. It's not based off the originals, not based off the Rob Zombie remakes.. they are not calling it a reboot, remake or reimagining. It's a recalibration. No director has been announced yet.

I literally could not care less about this. I'm trying and...no, it's not happening.

The original Halloween is possibly on of the best of its niche genre (slasher horror) ever made.

That Rob Zombie thing was possibly one of the worst remakes of anything ever. It was Halloween by redneck white-trash, utterly unsubtle in its terribleness. 🙁

I have hopes they make it right, but I doubt it. Halloween and to a degree Halloween 2, are the blueprints that all slasher movies should follow. People talk about Freddy and Jason but for me it was always The Shape.

I didn't need to see The Shape as a kid.. just as a dark lurking shadow coming to get me!
But see.. sorry rant coming.. it would be SO damn easy to make a really good Halloween but I just dont think the studios think there would be any money in it. You dont need blood and guts and gratuitous violence. Just need suspense. The first Nightmare had it.. the first few Friday the 13ths had it. The first three Halloweens (and yes I am counting season of the witch!) had it. The Fog. Prince of Darkness. The Howling. Poltergeist. Hell, you could even throw in the original Childs Play. (and Curse of Chucky- the newest one REALLY surprised me!)

Point being.. it's not that hard. It's really not.

I hate scary movies, so I couldn't really care less about this but...

Is it just me or is there literally NO originality left in Hollywood? I mean, look at all the hundreds of thousands of original scripts that are probably kicking about, from incredibly talented writers who just want a break and the Big Wigs decide that THIS is what the people need.

Between this and Spiderman I have lost all faith in Hollywood. I'm not even looking forward to Infinity Wars now and I'm a huge Marvel fan. Sad.

Great post agree with just about every word!

The original was one of the best slasher movies ever and holds up just as well today. Also it set so many classic trademarks into play, including the idea that you can have a fully rounded and smart female lead who does more than just run away from the killer, and that having sex in these movies really is a bad idea😱

Hated the first Zombie film so much than I didn't bother with the second. I did have some hopes because at least he is a fan of the original and I enjoyed his first film as director, but just goes to show that fans can sometimes be the worse people to get to direct these films. It was totally dire!😡

Ok, still not seen that one. I was really impressed with Bride of Chucky, but thought Seed was really poor, so wasn't sure if I should give it a go or not.
