Happy Fourth, all (US) Americans! I went to a museum that was right by a prime fireworks viewing area. People were already there at 2 PM! But luckily, I live two blocks up from a great view, and I can just walk down 15 minutes before the show starts.
I do find it unimpressive though, that Americans celebrate their independence from Britain. Thing is, that to this day, the American people still read, write and speak English. You'd have thought a country that is so proud of its own identity would have had a President who was capable of naming their language to be American.
I enjoyed the holiday more than usual for one specific reason. The neighborhood fireworks (those set off by your neighbors - illegally in our case) were at an all-time low. Didn't hear any until the 4th, they were done by midnight, and haven't heard any since then.
