Something I found a little bit amusing.....
Washing machine has done more to liberate women than the Pill, says the Vatican
I don't know what to think....I'm a little bit miffed and I'm not even a feminist. But I do have images in my head of the Vatican feeling happy and humanistic with getting a washing lady to do their laundry....Oh we did our bit to liberate women today...ahahaha.

After a 4 years of sociology in uni constantly shoving feminism down my throat, I spat it out. I just got too sick of being told that women have had it so hard and been repressed and what not. Because it's not just women. So that just drove me nuts.
Do I believe in equality? Yes. People should be given a fair go within their abilities and circumstances to do what they want to do (within reason, obviously - legalities and whatnot) without prejudice from being male, female, black, white.....whatever. Does it suck that people are judged by what they've got under their pants rather than what they might be able to do? Absolutely. But it also sucks that people are judged by where they come from, who they worship, etc, etc.
Maybe it was the coursework of the uni I went to, but 4 years of sociology, and the main thing that came out of it for me was how sick I was of hearing about it and how much I prefer a well rounded theory of equality.

Go us girls! In light of the day, I'd like to present some reasons why it's better to be a girl than a man 😉
1. Sandals looks good on us.
2. No matter how horrible a mother we are, the kids normally prefers us to the dad.
3. We can have bad breath, fat thighs, be so drunk, we're drooling, and there will always be a guy who'd wanna have sex with us.(A guy with just ONE of those things have to go home, and do it himself.)
4. When we are named Kim, it's actually cool
5. If the room smells like fart, the gils aren't the first you'd think did it.
6. We can cry our way out of most things. (A guy who starts crying in a critical situation only has another problem to deal with.)
7. It doesn't matter that we are more stupid than a wet cardboard...As long as we are pretty.
8. A tomboy is a fresh part of every party. A lil guy who likes dresses,and draws hearts is something you whisper about in corners.
9. We don't have to shave our faces all the time. (If we miss one day, it doesn't look like a rat exploded in our face.)
10. We don't become serial killers very often...But when we do we are really evil, and good at it.
11. We know the truth about "the size".
12. We can dance.

I'm also all for equality, all the way. I just cannot see how we can reach equality without fighting. For me, being a feminist is a part of that, along with a clear stance against discrimination on basis of skin colour, religion, political stance and sexual orientation. (Am I proud to live in a country where gays are finally allowed to marry? You bet.)
The problem with radical feminism (like, the bra burning kind) is that it has managed to achieve some things, but mostly, they managed to reach quite the opposite: people make even more jokes about them, and women can only reach the top if they act like men *ahemhillaryahem*. So in that respect, I'm not all for feminism. Also, there's the problem that there actually are differences between men and women. So men can't do some things as good as women can, and vice versa. There are of course always exceptions (I can read maps better than my dad, but don't ask me to do your laundry), but in general it's definitely true than women are no men.
But despite that it's of course ridiculous that women get paid a lot less for the same job, are discriminated against, don't get to go to school, whatever. So, yay for Womens Day! (Whoa, I made a rhyme 🙂)

Is that a problem, though? Equality doesn't mean that everyone should be the same, it means that everyone should be worth the same. Big difference.

That's also what I'd say, but some more extreme flavours of second wave feminism wanted total equality, as they thought that differences between men and women were imposed by society, and I think that's fundamentally untrue (okay, some things are, like the preference of little girls for barbie and pink) A women's brain is different from a men's brain, which they refused believe, because research that had uncovered those differences was done by men and therefore could not be trusted and blah, blah. It's these feminists that have sort of ruined the image of feminism (here's a bit harsh comparison: like muslim terrorists ruin it for all muslims).
Ironically, (at least, I think it's kinda) there's also a group of feminists who did acknowledge the differences, but took it to the extreme; they said that men were fundamentally evil and prone to violent behaviour and corruption, and women were naturally good, caring and intelligent (we had a good laugh during that lesson)

There are idiots in all camps, feminism is no exception. But from what you are writing it seems to me that you are dismissing feminism because of the foolish feminist extremists. That's a bit unwise, I think, just as I think it's unwise to dismiss any other idea because of the extremists' presentation.
I'm not dismissing feminism in general, I'm dismissing certain flavours of feminism. The one's I've been describing to be more precise. The kind of feminism that wants women and men to be worth the same, like you said it, that's the cool kind. And it's definitely not right to say that 'feminism's goals have been achieved', or whatever, cos they have most definitely not been achieved in the slightest. Like your banner points out ^^
