As I'm sure many of you know, tonight is the night that we Brits celebrate the non-destruction of Parliament by Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plotters. We do this by having firework displays and bonfires where we burn the Guy - an effigy of Guy Fawkes.

Anyway, for all of you guys having or attending bonfires and displays, have fun and stay safe.

If you're not going to see any fireworks tonight here are some computer ones to make up for it. Enjoy.

OOOhhh! AAhhh! Pretty Fireworks - When it loads click with your mouse in the black area and watch those rockets fly...

Oh gosh, that could provide me with hours and hours of fun!! Except i have work to do.................work be damned, bring on the fireworks!!

Lol i wish i was going to a display, but my family never wants to go, so looks like i'll be wathcing out of my window like i do every year.

I hate this time of year, too many kids running around with fireworks. I acutally smacked some punk 17 year old for throwing fireworks at my cat! They have been going off here for the past couple of nights until 9 at night. I'm all for the new regulations that they are going to put into force and hope that soon fireworks won't be on sale to the general public and are only available for organised displays. There are too many accidents caused by them.

I saw on GMTV this morning that one came into this womans window, and in fact it was her infants room, destroyed the roof and the door. Lucky the child wasn't in the room at the time.

Bonfire night isn't one of my favourite times either. My estate backs onto a huge field where people normally have their Bonfire parties and with my room being at the back it gets extremely load.

One of the things I don't get though is when people have their parties on a Monday or a Tuesday night. If there going to have a Bonfire party on a school night why not have it on the actual day. I'm sick of all the fire works going off round here. I also don't see the point in those fire works that just make a very load bang, I'm all for the nice colourful sparkly ones but I don't see the point for the others.

I've had my nice little rant now....and as you've probably guessed I don't do anything for bonfire night 🙂

what i want to know if there is an age restriction on them where the hell do these 14 year old scallys get them from? And also it's not like "bonfire night" anymore there being let off all year round and what is the point of letting them off during the day may i ask?

Its like alcohol, they're not old enough to buy it but they still get them. Either they have friends who are old enough or shop keepers are not that vigilant about who they sell them too.

Like Jules I don't mind the odd pretty ones, in moderation but when they go on and on and on it gets annoying. Gives me a headache and my poor cat hides shaking.

Faith,

Totally agree with you. When I was younger Bonfire Night used to be just for one or two nights - the 5th itself and possibly the weekend nearest. Now it seems to go on for about a month from mid-October to mid-November and it really p*sses me off.

I would go further and ban fireworks from retail sale except for the week before, or for licensed, organised displays. I am upset by all the pictures of injuries caused by fireworks that we see at this time of year and I really feel sorry for pet-owners. I wouldn't like to be thought a killjoy but too many people (mainly youngsters) are getting injured or killed these days.

I'll be sticking to the firework web page myself this year.

They have imposed new regluations on the sales of them, but the police are calling for an entire ban of retail sales, and I for one hope that they get it. It can be a great time of year if its done right. When I was a kid the whole neighbourhood got together and had one in the local park, where we would have a barbecue, and it was all done and finished by about 7am. The firemen would even come and we'd all get a shot with the hose to put them out, but now its just getting out of control.

i think it's just really sad that people waste their money on mingy scraps of fireworks why not go to a organised display for the same amount it costs you to but those fireworks, and watch some really big expensive pretty ones instead? Plus hot dog stands and toffee apples, you wont get those at home in your own backyard!

I had my party on Saturday! 🙂
The fireworks were GREAT!

Thank you for the firework fun! I had an enjoyable time during lunch playing around! I luv fireworks, although I have never heard of the celebration you are referring to.

OoOOo I love Bonfire Night. Im goin to two bonfire's one on Thurs and then one on Fri and it has Rides at the one on fri cant wait. The Fireworks have been goin on till about 12 but I love em!

See thats what I don't get....why have them before and after bonfire night?

I feel like such a grump at the moment, they are going off, and its like bombs hitting they just get louder and louder.

I feel like i'm in the middle of a war zone the amount of banging thats going on. Given me one hell of a migrane so it has.

And your not a grump, I hate bonfire night too for the fireworks, they wont GO AWAY outside, but its good when your having one yourself! lol!

I so don't like today.

The fireworks give me a headache, there are load's going off, I HATE IT.

They are still going off and its around 10.50pm! Some people are trying to sleep. Well not me at the moment but others are.

The fireworks finally finished here at about 11pm. Phew.

The Male Slayer has a good point - bonfire parties can be great fun when you're at them but a real drag when you're not. Anyway, I hope all who went to one had a great time and there were no accidents.
