And to non-Americans, um, happy fourth of July!

Doing anything special? I went to lunch with a friend, and I'll go down the street tonight to view the city fireworks.

I suppose every patriotic American watched "Independence Day" today.

No, not Independence Day. "Yankee Doodle Dandy," a biopic about playwright George Cohan, who wrote some excellent patriotic songs for the Great War. The Film itself was made during World War 2, so it turned the dial up to eleven on the patriotism, and was long the film of choice for television networks airing an evening movie on July 4th.

Definitely! Though possibly less cheerful, depending how it went for your party.

Not a favorite movie, but I love that scene of Will Smith walking through the desert, complaining to the unconscious alien he's dragging in his parachute.

Yankee Doodle Dandy is a good choice, as @AlphaFoxtrot suggested, or 1776 is good for some cheesy musical fun!

Poor puppies! I can't believe some people brought their dogs to watch the fireworks last night. The noise must be terrifying to them.🙉

I remember Will Smith bitch-slapping the alien and telling it to keep his wife's name outta it's damn mouth. Good times.

Seriously Independence Day feels like it's from a long-lost era of movies compared to today.

I think the Classic Trek episode "The Omega Glory" s should be a Fourth of July classic. Even if it works a lot better as a Doctor Who episode.
