Guy Fawkes Night (also known as Bonfire Night, Cracker Night, Fireworks Night) is an annual celebration on the evening of the 5th of November. It celebrates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot of the 5th of November 1605 in which a number of Catholic conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London, England.

It is primarily marked in the United Kingdom where it was compulsory, by Royal Decree, to celebrate the deliverance of the King until 1859, but also in former British colonies including New Zealand, parts of Canada, and parts of the British Caribbean.Bonfire Night was also common in Australia until the 1980s, but it was held on the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June in some states (e.g., New South Wales) and 5 November in others (e.g., Victoria). It is also celebrated in the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda. Festivities are centred on the use of fireworks and the lighting of bonfires.

Ahh, I wish Guy Fawkes did blow up the houses of parliament..:nibble6:

wooooo happy bonfire night, i have to go to work soon but i have sparklers to make pretty light with lol

Yar! I love bonfire night, it sounds like a war zone outside right now.

YEA! I guess. I'm confused but it does sound like a FUN holiday.
*goes to get wood for bonfire*

Dogs are peeved, I have 2 trembling flabradors on my lap as next door let some off earlier. Going to the school event on saturday though. Can you believe the zoo had bangless fireworks earlier? So it didn't scare the animals? How about not having it at, er, the Zoo?

"Remember, remember, the fifth of November..."

...watching V with some friends and ordering food soon! XD

happy Guy Fawkes Day!

What is the point of bangless fireworks? In addition to my other charming character traits I like to blow things up and am little firebug. That holiday sounds smashing! better than out 4th of July.

I like fireworks, and bonfires so I'm a little jealous now. There's nothing going on here in that field of fun until, maybe, 31 December. Happy Guy Fawkes day! 🙂

What about the 'Sint-Maarten feest'? It's quite fun. We should make our little Smeermaas version of Thanksgiving and then there is Santa Clause aaaand Christmas and well, yeah, but no fireworks. ^^

i think all the noise scared willow, poor thing poor thing (HBC way) and she was there trying to eat a prawn and everytime she heard a bang she'd be all spazzy cat and unnerved... but other than that... oooh pretty sky flowers (land of the dead)
