Hail the naughty and powerful Samhain! Hail, I say! 😛

Enjoy the day, peeps. Enjoy the candy corn, the caramel apples, the chocolatey Halloween goodness, the outlandish costumes....but especially enjoy the SCARES! It ain't Halloween if you aren't scaring the shyte out of someone, or on the receiving end of a good jolt. So make it a good one! 😀

Allow me to start the day off with a few choice links. Watch in the dark...if you dare. Go on...you know you want to.........

**Warning: Not for the faint of heart!**

1) JAPANESE MELODY

2) POP SONG

3) LOVE ON THE BEACH

4) GREEN MEADOWS

Im giving you karma because I snaked your image and used it a few other places. I hope you don't mind :)
Happy Halloween everyone! Hope it's a scary one.. But stay away from mystical costume shops and small fear demons.

:) I wouldn't mind turning into who I'm going as!
Happy hallowe'en. I'm going out tonight to frighten some little kids with my Catwoman costume. (Either that or attract some really weird and sick males... ) OK... Mike's coming out with me too so I'm safe!

OM.... I jumped outta my skin when I watched those evil sketches! You should learn to put a warning on them... "WARNING: Not for the faint of heart!"

Hehehehe.....did their job well, didn't they? Happy Halloween. 😉

But fine, I'll put a warning up, scaredy cat. 😛

Happy Halloween All!!

What's everyone's costume plans for today? I'm a firm believer in that you're never too old to dress up - especially now when they make slutty versions of everything 😀

I'm going to pull out my authentic renaissance wench costume - complete with REAL corset....no candy for me today 😀

You're going to have to stop this talk of Catwoman costumes and corsets...it's enough to make an old gent spill his mug of cocoa 😉 And then Mrs P will have to punish me...🙂

We have nothing planned as such but we have bought in plenty of treats for the little ones (I made sure we got a lot more than absolutely necessary - hey, some of us old'uns need treating too😉) but I do resent handing them over when they clearly haven't made much effort...a lot of kids seem to look upon it as another excuse to hit you for cash and seem to think that just coming to the door with the hood of their sweatshirts pulled up is sufficient...you should see their faces when they don't get money but a mini Mars bar 🙂 I really do appreciate the ones (and their parents) who have obviously put a lot of effort in, though.

I'm with Mr. P here...damn near spilled my coffee...and why am I not surprised one particular mod would have this take on it?😉😀 And elmo with a whip...brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

No plans here, we're loaded with candy, and I get to escort the youngest dwarflet and her friends around the neighbourhood. The older dwarflet (not so much a dwarflet anymore, being as he's taller than me) is going out with his buddies to "extort candy"...but he is going in costume. No skin-tight costumes in dwarfland...people would wonder why I have a pillow under the suit...but it ain't no frickin' pillow...

Thank god I'm too tired to be scared...

I had looked forward to this for weeks. I have never celebrated Halloween and thought it could be oh so much fun to do it properly this year, had my "costume" and all (everyone who knows me will be able to guess pretty easily, ehehehh)... We were gonna have a party and go to another one. But today it rained, all day. And the party seemed really lame. And everyone is going somewhere else. So I'm thinking we'll stay in and drink beer or maybe just see a movie or something... Which will be fine by me 'cause I'm just too tired to party anyway.. (I might still dress up though 'cause that just seems fun, 🙂 )

Happy Halloween everyone.

OK, got a little more.

bbc online has a good Halloween history:

And other tidbits:

"The custom of Halloween was brought to America in the 1840's by Irish immigrants fleeing their country's potato famine. At that time, the favorite pranks in New England included tipping over outhouses and unhinging fence gates.

The custom of trick-or-treating is thought to have originated not with the Irish Celts, but with a ninth-century European custom called souling. On November 2, All Souls Day, early Christians would walk from village to village begging for "soul cakes," made out of square pieces of bread with currants. The more soul cakes the beggars would receive, the more prayers they would promise to say on behalf of the dead relatives of the donors. At the time, it was believed that the dead remained in limbo for a time after death, and that prayer, even by strangers, could expedite a soul's passage to heaven.

The Jack-o-lantern custom probably comes from Irish folklore. As the tale is told, a man named Jack, who was notorious as a drunkard and trickster, tricked Satan into climbing a tree. Jack then carved an image of a cross in the tree's trunk, trapping the devil up the tree. Jack made a deal with the devil that, if he would never tempt him again, he would promise to let him down the tree.

According to the folk tale, after Jack died, he was denied entrance to Heaven because of his evil ways, but he was also denied access to Hell because he had tricked the devil. Instead, the devil gave him a single ember to light his way through the frigid darkness. The ember was placed inside a hollowed-out turnip to keep it glowing longer.

The Irish used turnips as their "Jack's lanterns" originally. But when the immigrants came to America, they found that pumpkins were far more plentiful than turnips. So the Jack-O-Lantern in America was a hollowed-out pumpkin, lit with an ember."

If you ever thought Hallowe'en decorations sometimes go too far - here's a gruesome but true (and sad) tale of a woman in Delaware who committed suicide by hanging herself but was left there for days because passers-by thought she was a decoration...

Nothing bad, darling! If anyone can pull off those costumes the way they should be, it's you! OK, I was razzing a bit, but hey, it's what I do...with no malice, as you know!:)
Im not really a Halloweeny person, never celebrated it as such. Will watch some Halloween-themed Buffy eps tonight and thats about it.

Here's a couple more fitting Halloween images. Am I the only one to notice just how creepy this new Burger King dude is? Lol.

Well, considering I spent the better part of Halloween day with six year olds... I'm whomped!

And considering that I have to deal with them and their upcoming week-long sugar high, it's an early bedtime tonight.
