just to wish every one happy st georges day partron saint of england 😀

we should celibrate it like the irish celibrate st patrics day, but we dont.... whats with us english? ( thats retorical.....) should be an national holiday.....







Saint George is most famous for the 'Golden Legend', in which he slays a dragon - and this has become a symbolic reflection of his life-long fight against evil.

The Legend
Legend says that a township was being terrorised by a terrifying dragon, and in the hope of placating it, the local people decided to sacrifice a beautiful maiden. When St. George learned of their plan, he rushed to save her. He slayed the dragon and gave the young woman a red rose - the national flower of England.

Oh LOL there's a bank called the St. George bank and a football team called saint george mostly cause their sponsored by the bank loma. But Happy St. Georges Day!
 
Hey my local is celebrating it big style there is a hog roast in the car park and they are doing drinks promotions and there is also a really good band playing tonight!!! It's fab!

I can't wait as I'm going to go and spend the afternoon in the pub and if anyone questions it I can say that I'm being patriotic... lol
 
perfect to spend the day in the pub for st georges day..... darn bloody work..... see if it was recognised as a national holiday i wouldnt be going and having to miss the pub grrrrrrr

St George's Day always gets celebrated in Stratford-Upon-Avon, on account of it being Shakespeare's birthday 🙂

We English seem to be ashamed to be patriotic, don't we? I think it dates back to when the neo-fascists like the NF and BNP seemed to appropriate our national symbols in the 70s for their own twisted agendas and, also, the rise of the English football hooligan around that time - but we do seem to be reclaiming them and re-establishing an English national identity.
