HEY! Everyone, it's about THE most important day in the world today... (After Christmas, and the presents🙂)....

It's St. Patty's Day!!!

Everyone's sporting the Green (and orange, and white... I know I've got my football jersey on)... And the green beer is flowin'!

Being half Irish, this is my FAVORITE holiday of them all, and the best times happen... I know you've all got to have some pretty good stories... So spill 'em! And maybe I'll share mine!

Happy Paddy's Day to Irishmen and women everywhere (and those like me who aspire to honorary Irishness 😉). I hope the craic is good for you all today.

I'll drink a few to ya Faith! That was me last year... I was sailing during St. Pat's. Gah... It's considered a sin to not drink on St. Patrick's Day, but atleast you have some Guiness 🙂

AGH HA HA HA! The BEST day of the YEAR! I LOVE St. Paddy's! The day when EVERYONE'S a little bit Irish! :stpaddy: Of course, I'm A LOT Irish, which makes it even MORE fun! Actually, we've always called ourselves Irish-American...I don't get any scholarships for it, but there's always good beer in the house...

I miss home a great deal today, because we live in a prodominantly Irish neighborhood and we have a block party on St. Patrick's Day. Plus, I'm at the all-girls school that has no CLUE how to do St. Paddy's. They're always going on and on about celebrating cultural diversity, and yet when it gets to the BIGGEST, most important day of the year (after Christmas), this is what I get:

The BSA (that's the Black Student Alliance, which makes me go "huh?") is sponsoring a St. Patrick's movie night, which is inexplicably spelled "Movie Knight" on all the posters. They are showing....ready for the stupidity??.......A Knight's Tale...which takes place in England, but ok, Heath Ledger, all-girls school, I get it. But they are also showing.....BRAVEHEART. Braveheart. Let me say it again. Braveheart. Braveheart. About Scotland. Braveheart. WHAT????????????? The only Irish part of that movie is the crazy Irishman and the Irish conscripts that switch sides!

The Activities Board is having a party tonight...great, yeah. Beer is discounted....But only the American beer. HUH??? AAAANNNDDD: The band is...get this...rock/salsa fusion. Rock...and salsa. Salsa music on St. Paddy's?

My French teacher has scheduled our MIDTERM for tommorrow. Who schedules a TEST for the DAY AFTER ST. PATRICK'S DAY?!?!? I SWEAR! No respect for my cultural traditions! At a school that prides itself on respecting other people's cultures can we please at least make an EFFORT on St. Patrick's Day? It's so not that hard. Get a band that at least knows the words to Danny Boy and the Fields of Athenry, show Boondock Saints at the movie knight (or even Harry Potter! At least it has Seamus Finnegan!) and don't schedule 9 am tests for hungover students!!!!

Ok, that was my rant. I wanna go home for the block party and go to Rare Old Times (local pub) for dinner, to see my favorite band (they call what they play Irish-American pub music) and have my dad wake me up at 7 to go to Mass on Saturday....oh wait, no. That last one, not so much....

So anyway, tonight, I am staying in, watching Boondock Saints, drinking one, count 'em one, Guinness (cause that's all I've got left) and studying my French. Yeah, worst St. Paddy's EVER. Oh well....I made a Colin Farrell banner, see? He's a hottie...

Well im not Irish but happy St Paddy's Day to all that are. Not going out drinking tonight because all my friends are going like 20 miles away and im wicked lazy.

Because the Scottish tourist board were asking too much money to film there they actually filmed a large proportion of the movie in Ireland.

Some sort of animal is trying to eat it's way out of my brain. I have work in an hour and a half.

Hope everybody had as good a Paddy's day as evidently I must have had. If, between here and work, I find a ditch to roll into, I may stay there for a week or so.

Re: Braveheart, they also used Irish soldiers as extras. Still though, Saving Private Ryan is more Irish than that.

Actually Irish films they might have shown-

* Intermission. Pros - Everybody loves Colin Farrell. Cons - It gave Dublin kids the bright idea of stoning buses.

* The Commitments. Pros - ? Bafflingly popular. Cons - Stephen Gately began his career as an extra in it.

* Man About Dog. Pros - It's very good. Cons - My former flatmate plays Russian Nymphomaniac # 3. You try making small talk about it.

* Circle of Friends. Pros - If you like the colour beige, you'll love this! Cons - Chris O' Donnell. If you can't do the damn accent, don't do this to it.

* Anything else by Roddy Doyle. Pros - Rather great. Cons - Not very accessible to untrained ears.

* My Left Foot. Pros - It's brilliant! Cons - They make us watch it in schools and suck all the good out of it.
