It begins tonight! The next coincidence of Thanksgiving and Hanukkah will be several thousand years from now.

Is anyone planning cool mash-up festivities? For the first time, we're frying our turkey instead of roasting it, and the entire house has been decorated with dreidels and harvest vegetables.

Yeah, my family plan to offer up a turkey in sacrifice for the occasion. Poor bird, it's like losing a member of the family, but it just has to be done.

By the way, the day before Thanksgiving is officially referred to as "Thanksgiving Eve" in my family.

I always ask for the drumstick. Dark meat rules!
It IS really, really rare for Hanukkah to begin in November. The Jewish calendar is lunisolar and 'migrates' a bit.

Now I'm craving doughnuts as I sit and watch the flames...

I'm so glad the holiday season is ending (for me, anyway). It's been way too stressful and frantic. Here's to the coming months of boring, stress-free living!

So, who's the shooter and what were they shooting? Just at a casual glance, from the straight casings, I would say a handgun, probably of large caliber, probably .44 or .45. Course, they COULD be solid brass shotgun shells, but those are too rare to make candles out of, or maybe .45-70 rifle rounds. It's hard to be really accurate without knowing the scale.

(Old handloaders never die, they just lose all their brass)
 
I believe they're .38 SPC, but I could be wrong. I'll check it out later. Buffy would not approve! 😛
