I can't believe there's no thread for Happy Town yet. They aired the premiere episode "In This Home On Ice" last night. And what the network always says is "Don't let the title fool you". 😀

Haplin, Minnesota "Happy Town" is approaching five years of peace after being riddled for years by unsolved kidnappings. But, in the wake of this small town's first crime in five years, some dark truths are being revealed about some familiar faces. They say every town has its secrets... that doesn't even begin to describe Happy Town.

I've just watched it and I think it's kinda good.
Amy Acker character didn't do anything much. The episode went a little too slow for me, but I love the mystery of it. It's like a serial killer movie, but it, of course, takes longer time. And a snow-fulled town like this always makes me feel more horror. It's really, really a happy town, but you don't know what will happen at night. I don't know if it's ghost or no ghost. Oh, and Henley(Lauren German) is adorable. I had a crush on her already. 😀

I watched this with my girlfriend when it premiered, and personally I wasn't all that impressed. I liked Acker's character (and thought she really pulled off what scenes she had, acting wise), but the storyline overall I thought was a little cheesey. Maybe it's from watching too much Fringe, but the show's just a little too light-hearted for me. Not sci-fi enough for my tastes :silly:

My girlfriend *loves* it though, so I'm sure I'll be tuning in from now on whether I like it or not😉

You can always count on Amy's acting. 🙂 And I think it's thriller more than Sci-fi. I just love the epic graphic scenes like
the hole in the head. 😛 And the scene when those ladies seem to like the same man is funny.

Oh never heard of this, i'm a sucker for thrillers(sometimes).
Might have to watch this. 😉

I want to watch the first episode to see how it is.. but I'm only watching because Amy Acker is in it. XD

I liked it, it definitely has me hooked already!

I love shows with a mystery/thriller theme to it!

hey BEG haven't seen you at the SN thread on AD for a while...whats up with that?
I like it, it has a lot of potential. It was a little slow but I won't hold that against the show since it's just started out.

That was kinda fun. I want to see more so I guess it worked for me.
Also felt like every other actor was a familiar face, all good ones though so I don't mind.

Amy Acker was good, but she didn't really do much.
Not sure what her role will be in this, hopefully something more than just the wife.

/SK

I think it's ok. So I'll definitely give it a few more episodes. A little mystery is never wrong. I don't like one thing though. Second episode:
Getting to know who the murderer is so fast was disappointing but I guess they have this thought out so hopefully it'll play out good. Didn't expect it to be the person it was though. The shape didn't fit what I remembered from what we got to see from the murder. But then again I have a miserable memory.

Considering that her part was the wife I didn't have much expectations on her involvement. So I actually thought we got to see more of her in the first episode than I'd feared. Sadly the second episode was more as I expected. Hopefully her part will get bigger with time.

This doesn't sound very good.

Despite a promotional push from ABC, its debut episode performed poorly, scoring a 1.7/5 among 18-49's, with 5.2 million viewers overall, roughly scoring the same numbers in the same time period that predecessors "Ugly Betty" and "Eastwick" had during their run. In its second outing, the ratings slipped as did its audience, scoring a 1.2/4 among 18-49's and a 2.6/5 overall with 3.794 million viewers watching.

I love the pace of the plot. And there has been some who say the characters are really dumb but I think it's a forced dumb because they hold secrets about the magicman.
So far it really grabs you when the episode is going into a lull by having a huge secret revealed or an incident. Hope they keep the pace it's refreshing and new.

Finally watched the first episode yesterday. For me it was just "meh". It was ok, but if Amy was not in it I would not be interested in watching the second episode. It was pretty slow, but I am interested in Chloe. I guess in the least it was a good introduction to the characters. I like harper's island and I'm thinking that this may be something like it, so I'll keep on watching. Alot of people have been telling me it is the same as a show called Twin Peeks?

Most definitely. Twin Peeks sure is a classic and if Happy town only gets a third of that success they'll be happy. But I really don't think they will. People a bit older than you really should have at least given Twin Peeks a chance. But it's not like it would hurt people your age either. Now that you brought it up. I need to get Min and Tasha to give it a try sometime. 😀

Thanks for the trailer, but I doubt I'll watch it. :P
It got me at, "A tangled tale of sex, violence, power and junk food." 😛 I'll check it out!

I was interested but their little "Twin peaks" name-drop just reminds me of the fact that nothing can compare to Twin Peaks. So I suppose if it runs along those lines I'll just re-watch my TP dvd's for the umpteenth time instead 😀

although if Amy Acker's in it I might give it a glance either how

I watched the two episodes of it and I loved it! And I like Amy in it, she's a very good actress! And I can't wait to see the third episode because it airs Wednesday night!

I've just watched the second ep.
I can't believe Dave is the murderer too. At least, he's not the real Magic Man. Great intense scene when that Goerga was drugged and being chased in the hospital. I'm glad she's okay. And I love when Tom gets angry. He has to do that more often. 😀 Chloe/Henley's story is interesting(What a friggin birds in the attic!). But I think the actress doesn't act so well. Anyway, I hope to see Amy doing something more.

I watched the two eps the other day ago. I never really liked the pilot, it was sloow and a little boring. The second ep was slightly better. I want to know about the whole Chloe thing now. I hope the series gets better and that we get to see more of Amy.

Oh no. Here is a bad news. 🙁

ABC pulls 'Happy Town,' will burn off in summer

Despite an aggressive ad campaign, ABC viewers let the name fool them.

After this week, ABC is pulling "Happy Town" from its schedule for the rest of the month/season.

The decision comes after two episodes have aired of the Wednesday night show, which dropped 29% for its second week to a decidedly unhappy 1.2 adult demo rating. ABC will air another episode Wednesday night, then burn off the remaining five episodes starting June 2.

I hope they won't be pulled off for too long. *fingercrossed* It just started. I don't know why they decided to do this SO early.
