Is it just me or does it seem like Mercedes went and took some acting classes between S3 and 4? There was SUCH a drastic difference IMO in her performance. During S1-3 she was really cringe-worthy, its like every line that was handed to her she completely butchered. But then all of a sudden she shows up in S4 vamped and a freaking awesome actor. I guess it could be just cause she got so much more to work with this season, but i was just amazed and impressed. She went from making me cringe to cracking my ass up every episode from here on out through Angel.
 
I think she just...got better. Maybe got a few tips, and worked on it.
I think she is brilliant in Buffy, but in season 5 of Angel...not so much. She just doesn't seem like Harmony like she used to. She's not as..dimm
 
I dont know, I never really paid much attention to her when she was a human. I definatley liked her better as a vamp. I said before on some other thread that I found her alot more sympathetic as a ditzy vamp than a ditzy school girl. She made me laugh and I did like her on Angel season 5. As far as Mercedes acting goes, I dont really think she got better or worse, it was just a better and more substantial role, she actually became a more noticable character instead of just that bitchy friend of Cordelia's.
 
Mercedes McNab has been in the business for years. I think she was just never really given the chance (writing) to make her character shine, you know?

yeah thats what i'd hoped it was anyway.
Harmony should have been staked as soon as was physically possible. I really hated the character all the way through both Buffy and Angel.
 
i always love harmony and Mercedes played the same character in Adams Family Values tho.

So ive never had a problem with her acting, she always cracked me up.

She was just like Harmony, and evil.

I think I remember seeing her in the first Adams Family too, but im not sure...

Not as the same character obvs.

oh and she was the annoying girl scout in the first film... i remembered. i only have AFV on dvd, the first aint released on region 2 for a strange reason... second one is my fav anywhos as Tony Shalhoub has a smidgen little part in it singing 'Macho Man' to the fabulous joan cusack.

plus wasnt pubert the cutest little baby with a moustache EVER!
 
Remember that line that Wednesday used to scare the pants off all her bunkmates? "All of their old noses had grown back!" LMAO Classic... Mercedes was too funny in that movie. 😀
You know, I had nightmares about the guy who played the male head counselor. You'd think it would be his character from "Ghostbusters 2" that would give me bad dreams, but no... It was the too-happy super counselor in my nightmares. LMAO
 
in Ghostbusters 2 he really freaked me out but in ally mcbeal i had a stupid crush on him, he's so cute as the biscuit.

LOL I never watched Ally McBeal enough to know anything about his character. My only association with Ally McBeal now is that time when David Spade made fun of Calista Flockhart on SNL and he was like "Ally McBeal...How about an Ally McMEAL?" LOL
 
I personaly think Hamoney has been cool since day one.
And yes her acting has got bettre other time but they all have lol.
I didnt think she butchered any lines at all!
 
I think it really was the character Mercedes had to play. High school Harmony didn't really get the opportunity to be anyone else than Cordy's bitchy friend, and therefore there was not much space for Mercedes to actually act. All she had to do was say mean stuff. Vampire Harmony got way more screentime and character developmental stuff, so then she could actually show she could act. And that she could be really funny 😉
