I must preface this by saying that I adore Harmony.

It wasn't always the case though. I wasn't a huge fan of her until I started writing a fanfic a few years ago, one where she played a part in 'the final battle'.

I started looking at her character a different way and started to build a back story to her life pre-Cordelia and also what happened when she turned to a vampire and that gave me the chance to fall in love with the character.

I personally think that Mercedes McNab was one of the most attractive ladies on the show and she made a very unlikeable character likeable.

What are your thoughts on Harmony?

I love her too. I like how she never changed even she's a vampire. I adore when she said sorry and she couldn't help it to feel like biting Cordy in Disharmony. I like when she kept herself clean for 8 months to do job. I like how she does bads thing in funny way. I like when she sat up on her chair. And I've watched Harm's Way the most times out of ANGEL season 5.

I think Mercedes McNab did a great job. She's so young back there.

I absolutely love Harmony. And Mercedes did her so well. I always loved the part where Harmony and Spike were lying in the bed. "What are you doing?" "I'm writing Spike loves Harmony on your back" or something 😀

Sure Harmony has some really funny scenes/lines but I never really cared for her. Especially not the high school years. I did like her more on Angel so I guess I liked her more and more as time went by. And I do like her own episodes. As for Mercedes she isn't even close to ugly but I've never been attracted to her. That goes for photoshoots pics too. They just don't do anything for me. Might add that I don't think she did a bad job as Harmony.

You feeling better today?
Harmony is one of my favorites on the show. I agree she is beautiful and hilarious. I didnt really care about her in the high school years but i loved her in the 4th and 5th seasons of buffy the most. The bit with the ''sex pistols eeewww'' followed by the Xander fight was one of the funniest bits in the series.

Also felt sorry for her in Crush, when Drusilla comes back for Spike, and Spike discards her like a piece of trash and throws her off the door. I'd definatly pick Harmony over Drusilla any day.

I do like Harmony, but it was characters like her, that diluted the Slayers mission. Simply put - Buffy should have staked her long ago. The same was true of Spike, even with the chip. When he tried to get it removed, Buffy should have dusted him.
The first three seasons of Buffy, she was far more focused on the mission, and Vampires seemed far more dangerous, and the mission was clear. If one gets away, it will kill someone, stake it before it has that chance.
So as much as I like Harmony, and her ditsy, funny emotionally damaged self, she should have been introduced to Mr Pointy a long time ago.
There is a moment in "into the woods", where Buffy seems to be considering letting the girl vamp who had been feeding on Riley go.
Thankfully she doesn't, but that shouldn't be the case. Just because you have some connection to the vamp, it doesn't get a free pass, it's a killer, dust it.

^Yeah, there was actually Alot of times that kinda thing happened. Buffy letting Angelus and Spike live. Cordy letting Harmony go in Disharmony. Angel letting Darla and Drusilla away in s2 of Ats. There was probably a couple more examples too. But i dont mind, i think the main vamps were some of the most interesting characters on the 2 shows.

And remember, half the good guys in the verse are killers.

Very true, I do like all of the vamp characters. It just made them a lot less sinister to me. And her mission felt less important, that so many of them, were allowed to keep walking around.
And yes, most of the characters have been guilty of this. Cordy should not have let Harmony walk. It's all about the mission. How many people could she have killed after that.

It seems in character for Buffy to go easy on a vamp she had a personal connection with, but why wouldn't Giles have staked chipped Spike or Harmony? He's a big picture guy who has no problem even killing innocents if there's a reason to.

BillyIdolWannaB agrees: So they should have killed all the fanged 4 and harmony? No no no. Id have hated that.

Won't make me popular. And of course I'm glad the vamps were on the show, but there was a time where the line was drawn. Vampires - bad. So yeah, in the early day. Spike, Dru, Darla and Angelus should have been dusted. It was her mission, and all who fought on the good side.

How many people in season 4 could have killed Spike and no one would have cared?

I totally agree that the vampires became less sinister. In the first few seasons of Buffy it was All about the slayers v vampires, which i loved. But from s4 onwards the big bads and Willow became ridiculously powerful, couple that with the fact humans seemed to get much better at taking vampires on, then what your left with is vampires that aren't that threatening and they lost their importance

There was really no reason not to stake him, aside from wanting to keep him on the show. It's true he couldn't hit or bite people, but he was still capable of other evil things. He conspired with Adam to have them all killed. He apparently was "the doctor" in season six. He could give brainless Harmony plans to kill Buffy and crew. And if he'd really been using his head, he could have had that robot Warren built him designed to kill people so he could feed off of them.

In the grand scheme of the series. I prefered it when it was more about vampires and less bout people having too much power. After high school there really wasn't that much vamp action. Joss may as well have dropped 'the vampire slayer' bit and just called it Buffy.

Woah Revolver. The cant kill Spike ever, if is after all the most popular character 🙂 otherwise yeah, they should have killed him.

I'm not suggesting the show should have killed Spike, just saying it doesn't fully make sense that the characters wouldn't
I don't know much of what she gets up to on Angel but...

The whole: "Harmony has minions!?" was a really, really hilarious moment.

I liked her as a vampire, not as a highschool student.

I loved Harm in Real Me, when she's like ''you're the big girl you sissy hairpuller''
Harmony was really just a background character in high school, but when I look back I can still see the ditzy Harmony that we know from later seasons. 😀 I think she's great, Mercedes is perfect as Harmony. And since she was in the unaired pilot of Buffy, means she's the longest running character in the whole Buffyverse. 😛

Except she dissapeared during S6/7 of Buffy and S3/4 of Angel.

That really doesn't have any effect on how long-lasting the character was though, because if you're talking number of appearences, she doesn't even come close to the most. Bluebird was just saying Mercedes was involved over the longest span of anyone. Whether she was missing for a season or so in the middle doesn't factor into this.
