So I am reading book 2 now and loving it but I am finding it hard to not watch the movies!

There's a teeny tiny part of me that wants to see the movies, but it's mostly for Alan Rickman. I really enjoyed imagining all of Snape's dialogue in Rickman's voice and intonation while I was reading. XD

Blondie, you've got to see the movies. I love them. I kind of see them as something apart to the books though. I don't expect them to be exactly the same as the books and cinematically they are awesome (from three onwards 😛).

Alan Rickman is awesome as Snape. But I still think Gary Oldman as Sirius and David Thewlis as Lupin are my favourites. Thewlis' portrayal of Lupin made me realise what an awesome character Lupin is 🙂

P.S - You have to wait, I'm not letting you watch them until you've finished reading! 😛

I find that both the books and films are great, and as they are different I always look upon the films as a different version. Favourite non-human character of this book is Dobby!:funnyhat:

For me,rupert grint as ron weasly makes the films worth watching.The guy is geniunly funny,and that cannot be brought out in the books.
And mrs mcgonigiggle is fandabbydosy.

I never actually read the second book. I was about seven and the movie scared me too much, I got about half way through the book and then just left it (I was a wuss). I don't really enjoy the first few films that much, I prefer the books; but I always like to compare the movies with the books, I'm just strange that way.

That's the problem or good thing depending on your point of view about visual graphics in a film compared to imagination.

I think one of the best casting jobs was placing Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange. And to think, it was supposed to be Helen McCroy at first, who now plays Bella's sister, Narcissa.

I agree Lemon. She plays Bellatrix almost better than she's written in the book.

This is kind of not that related but I was meant to watch Dave Legeno (who plays Fenrir Greyback) in an MMA fight last night. He's a pro Cage Fighter. But I fell asleep! 😛

Yes, I loved Bella in the book, but Helena really brought her to life like no other!

Greyback...is a pro-fighter? *shift eyes* Yeah, I can see that. I sure as hell wouldn't want to go up against him. I'd just picture him as Greyback and run!

Yeah, I may be wrong but I think this is his first acting role. He says he'll just go back to cage fighting when he's done too. He is a mean looking guy.

I was watching a back stage thing and all the actors said they were scared of him! lol

When book 7 was published I still had book 6 on the shelf collecting dust. So when book 7 came in the post I decided to read 6 and then 7 back-to-back. I did it in less than a week. Boy, am I glad that I now have the audio's, the books can now back to collecting dust.

For those who have the time and the books, it amazing to see the differences in different country editions. I know that there are quite differences between the UK and US editions, the classic difference is the first books title Philosophers/Sorcerer's Stone. There are several differences in the Dutch translations, mostly name changes

I’ve only read the last book in English so I don’t know of a lot of the differences but one thing that gets lost in the Swedish translation is accents/dialects. Some name changes are made but as far as I can tell it's mostly if the name have a special meaning.

I don't like the cover art on the German books much, it's slightly "expressionist" in style, I prefer the more naturalistic cover pics on the English books I have.

In general I prefer the Swedish covers over both the English (Brittish?) and Amercian ones but that can of course be because I’m used to them. But looking at different covers can be fun and at least we have our own covers. Gallery 🙂 I think the danish ones are my favourites even if they've got a classic and to some I'm sure boring teenbook feeling over them.

I like Snape a lot more thanks to him. And nothings stopping you from watching the movies right? Because you've read all the books now haven't you?

I'm reading a little backwards now since I read book 6 before the movie came out and followed it with the last one but now I've started all over again starting with book 1. There's so much I've forgotten so it was definitely about time.
