Harry Potter - Can You Wait?

I saw it but I cant be bothered posting what I thought of it right now. Maybe later 🙂
 
Saw it, loved it. It got mixed reviews for some reason. It did feel rushed a bit I think because they left some plots out which would have made the movie flow together more smoothly. I loved Imelda Staunton as Umbridge. Absolute brilliance! Hopefully, she'll get nominations for it, maybe an Oscar?
 
I didn't end up having to wait, I saw it on opening day with my mom. I liked it. It was definitely the best film yet. However, it's not as good as the book - IMO the books are a pale comparison to the films. And TOotP is my favorite book BECAUSE it's the darkest of them all. Dark usually equals awesome, and I'm hoping Deathly Hallows is twice as dark.

Anyway, loved Umbridge in the film. My favorite parts were the dream sequences, the weird/creepy editing. The dementor attack was pretty cool.

All in all I was amazed they made it flow so well despite cutting out half the story practically. The other movies feel extremely clunky. This one didn't.

Oop is my fav. book out of the series as well.
What I liked, is that even though they cut out soooo much, they were able to tell the important details and some subplots in different ways...like the room of requirement, instead of Dobby finding it and such, Neville did, and Hermione explained the room..I found that a great refresher from just cutting important things out.
 
Well I expected them to cut out a lot so I wasn't as disappointed as last time (even though I did love Goblet of Fire as well). Quality wise it was also the best imo, the beginning was just awesome.

I knew I'd love Helena Bonham Carter, and I knew she'd be perfect as Bellatrix – and I wasn't disappointed there, at all.. Did love also love Gary Oldman as Strius as always.

Tonks was perfect as well, can't wait to see more of her. Also made me happy that Lupin looked/acted sooo much better here than when we saw him before. Gah. Love.

I think my biggest surprise was how much I loved Luna. She's fun and all in the books, but I was never crazy about her.. I loved her in the movie though, from the first second, awesomeness <3

Exactly. the characters were amazing!
Just watched it.
As with ALL the Potter films, casting was SPOT on.
Staunton made a great character magnificent.
Carter made Lestrange brilliant.
And the Blonde girl that looked like Draco Malfoy in a wig made Luna my new favourite character.

I read something recently that made me think about the next book.
I think on After-Darkness a thread was started that had an interview about this new film and keeping out a specific character and JK said that it would be difficult for them to make the 7th movie if they took out that character.

So, I think its pretty safe to say that in the next(last) book, either Luna Lovegood OR Grawp is going to be pivotal to the plot.
I'd love it to be Luna(who I think is brillo) but I have a feeling that it will be Grawp.

I also feel that maybe Grawp will have something to do with a Characters death(or maybe dies saving someone).

Ohh slight annoyance in the film - The Potter/Lovegood relationship felt peculiar.

I saw the movie last Wed. It was pretty good. It's my favorite Harry Potter movie. I was mad that they cut Snape's worst nightmare so short though! That was my favorite part of the book.

As for the book I am going insane waiting!!!! I'm so excited! I am re-reading HPB right now actually.

Saw the film, and have now read The Deathly Hallows...

I won't give anything away for those who haven't read it yet, but I cried...several times! It was excellent! 😀
 
They left out a few things from the movie, that was in the book, (I know they obviously couldnt include everything). But not everyone reads the books. Most things i guess could be cut, but i thought that Sirius's brother was quite significant. Care to make a list with me?

The Howler Dumbledore sends Petunia
The boggart that Molly Weasley couldnt defeat
The story of Sirius's brother Regulas Black.
The whole hospital bit - seeing Lockheart again
The entire thing with Percy
 
I cried at the end (of the Deathly Hallows)

when you find out Albus' middle name is Snape. Aww

So sad at the people they killed though. Most of my favourite characters
 
Deathly Hallows was wicked good! I wasn't too crazy about the 19 years later thing though.

Snape's death was sooo sad! I knew he was good. Fred and Dobby's death made me cry too.

I think I'm going through Harry Potter withdrawals.
 
I saw it on Sunday night. While I am sad to admit that I've never read the books, I have seen all the movies. I found this one to be just as entertaining as the last ones.

I think I have a different experience because I haven't read the books and don't know what should/should not be in the storyline! But I have now decided that I need to read the books, after I snuck my sister's Deathly Hallows book away from her early Monday morning to read the Epilogue.

All in all, the movie was good. I agree with liking Luna, she was very interesting. The only thing seriously missing was Hermoine magic. I've always loved her magic, and it wasn't too apperant in this one. Although, I was impressed with Ginny's.
 
Here's a suggestion SB. Try the audio books. They're available at most libraries. They're great for when you're driving, if you're going long distances, or get stuck in gridlock. I like to listen and read along at home too.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. I commute every day during the school year, and I always listen to audio books. So perhaps when school starts again, I'll be listening to that.

Although, I've always thought I should buy the books too, so that I had them on hand, in case I ever have to work with older children. I think they're a little bit out my second graders range, but older kids enjoy them, and they could probably check them out from me with their parents approval (even though I totally hate that the books are censored at school)
