Technically she was born in NYC to 2 Irish parents, but moved back when she was 3 years old. Hence her dual citizenship. So she's about as Irish as one can be. Just saying. ๐Ÿ˜
 
Yeah, we don't need friendly skin walkers or no mags or weird commentary on anti-miscegenation laws or five part stories that run out of gas before part four. No American wizards!

There's no character really that she could play at that age, unless she does Lily or waits a few years and does Neville's mum Alice.

He could always put on a different one! Like David Tennant does sometimes. I guess the main question is how good he would be at doing so at that age.

Yes, but most are over 50, if they're staying true to the ages this time. Unless of course, you're happy for her to be a background character. Book 5 onwards more characters are introduced, but it depends on how much detail they include.
 
Not reboot, but I love that Tom Felton is going to play Draco again in the Broadway Cursed Child play.
 
I've seen announcements for both Lucius Malfoy and Fudge, but neither even appear until the second book.

Malfoy is being played by Johnny Flynn

Fudge by Bertie Carval

Other cast announcements are

Re: Fudge; I would not be adverse to rewriting some parts of the series to make them fit better into a coherent whole. Especially Fudge and Lucias, as their presence might be indicative of increased world building. Like, what the ministry and the death eaters were doing before book 4 is a good thing to look at.
 
There's still quite a few characters that haven't yet been announced, but maybe it'll be in batches like the last announcement. More of the Weasleys, Dudley, Crabbe and Goyle, more teachers.

The script for the first 2 episodes has been written though, and they've started to build the sets.

I want to go to the WB studios before the end of the year, just in case it changes!
 
I'm not trying to get the threads mixed up, sort of, but what type of tea does Harry prefer and please, no comments about that magic cuppa!

Well I don't know about tea, but I do hope they do the "have a biscuit" scene between Harry and McGonagall.

Mostly I just hope for continuity and not over use of special effects. No black smoke for apparating Death Eaters!

There can be a lot of variance here. My maternal grandfather died in 2008 (I was 39) at the age of 88 from Leukemia. Both my paternal grandparents died at 95 (2010 and 2012), and my maternal grandmother died in 2021 at 98. I even knew four of my great grandparents.

OTOH, I have a friend (52) from college (still a good friend and he lives 6 doors down from us) who had lost all his grandparents/great grandparents by the time I met him (1991). He lost his dad in 2021 and his mom in 2023. He literally has one sister (who lives in Virginia) and his next closest relative is a second cousin.
 
My Instagram feed has been taken over my people just discovering Draco/Hermione fanfiction, and in particular one fic that's now being turned into a published book. I feel old!

I imagine it won't be long before new fanart is made with the new cast, preferably just the adults though!

Arabella Stanton, who is playing Hermione in the new tv series is also doing the voice of Hermione in the first 3 audiobooks.

I guess she really wanted to be Hermione!
 
Re: Grandparents: Look, we have several wizards that are well older than one hundred at this point, and Harry's parents were 21 at the time of his death. Yet, there's an entire missing generation of younger grandparents, if you count the Potters and Snape. I count it as a plot hole. Granted, I don't take HP plot holes very seriously, as Joan was never great at worldbuilding and children's books really don't need the same level of worldbuilding that we are used to in adult fantasy. So, Long lived wizards weren't really necessary until Grindelwald's war put Dumbledore's childhood in the Victorian era in book 7.

How would I resolve it? My guess is, prior to the two wizarding wars, Flamel was more generous with his secrets, but the war saw the application of many discoveries that lead to post war suppression. Like, an immortal Dumbledore, not an issue. An immortal Grindelwald who had become Master of Death and cracked the secrets of Necromancy to create an army of undying slaves? That might be an issue. So, a lot of prominent wizards lived out their long lives, but the baby boomers returned to normal life spans.

I know that social media hasnโ€™t been completely kind but I really think they nailed the casting with her both on appearance and resume/talent.
 
The cast announcements keep coming for both the tv series and the audiobook edition.

The tv series seems to be very much embracing the 90s in its costumes and sets.
 
Good luck to all the actors in the films, it might be nice to see how the different actors will change the value of the films though I dare
say that by comparison a Harry Potter reboot will seem better than a Twilight reboot (if one does exist).
